The green grass of Wimbledon is in the rear vision mirror now, and players are once again dusting off the red dirt from their socks. Preparations for the Olympics are well underway, with a raft of ATP and WTA tournaments taking place on clay this week. Here are the best bets we see this Thursday in tennis.
Best Tennis Tips and Predictions Today
Based on the latest tennis odds, here are the bets we suggest taking today:
Alexander Zverev to Beat Hugo Gaston 2-0 @ 2/5
Alexander Zverev has been impressive on clay in 2024, making the final of Roland-Garros after winning the Rome Masters. In Hamburg, he looks to have brought this same energy, easily dispatching qualifier Jesper de Jong in their opening match.
Now, Zverev is up against world No. 81 Hugo Gaston, in a clash that feels like it has straight sets written all over it. Zverev is locked in at home, and should run past the Frenchman in just two sets here.
Felix Auger-Aliassime to Beat Yannick Hanfmann 2-1 @ 11/4
Action over in Gstaad sees Felix Auger-Aliassime square off against Yannick Hanfmann in the round of 16. Both men could really use a deep run here, with Auger-Aliassime winless since Roland-Garros, and Hanfmann having only won three of his last 10 matches.
We expect Auger-Aliassime to get across the line here, but it should go the distance. Both are in scratchy form, but the Canadian has some strong clay court form (final of Madrid Masters and Roland-Garros Round of 16) to draw on.
Rafael Nadal to Beat Cameron Norrie @ 8/15
The most anticipated match today is undeniably Rafael Nadal taking on Cameron Norrie. The Spaniard won his opener against Leo Borg, which was his first match since the opening round of the French Open.
Norrie, on the other hand, is in decent form, having made the third round of Wimbledon and beaten Jozef Kovalik to make the Round of 16 in Bastad. This is a tough match to call, but we’ve seen enough of Nadal this week across singles and doubles to be confident he can improve on his 4-1 head-to-head against the Brit.
