Monday’s Football Tips: Djurgardens face test of Swedish title mettle on the road at Norrkoping

FOR the second day in a row it's Scandinavian football taking centre stage, with Djurgardens' trip to Norrkoping the pick of the games.

Djurgardens have done well to keep in touch with Malmo at the top but the leaders are now 10 points clear at the top after yesterday's 5-1 win at home to Halmstads brought up two bets for me.

All hope is not lost for co-gaffers Kim Bergstrand and Thomas Lagerlof though as their team still have two games in hand, starting with the trek to Norrkoping.

It has been a bad campaign for Norrkoping, who sit second bottom of the table, and they're on a six-game run without a win.

Five of those games have ended in defeats so Djurgardens should bank three precious points if they're on their game.

Norrkoping v Djurgardens Top Betting Tips

Djurgardens were on a six-game winning run before that excellent form ground to a halt with a surprise 3-0 loss at home to Hammarby last time out.

I'd expect a response for the title chasers here and they have a good record in this fixture, winning 2-0 in Norrkoping last term to make it six games unbeaten.

Norrkoping have shipped nine goals in their last two games so a Djurgardens win with over 2.5 match goals looks the shout at 6/4 with Betfred. Over 3.5 strikes could also be worth a punt at 13/8.

Turkish striker Deniz Hummet has averaged a goal every other game this term and drew a blank in his last outing for Djurgardens. He's 11/8 to keep that stat going with a strike in this game.

Kristiansund v Fredrikstad Top Tips

Fredrikstad sit just fourth in Norway's top flight but they have games in hand on the sides above them and could emerge as the closest challengers to leaders Bodo/Glimt.

Champions Bodo thrashed second-place Brann on Sunday to send out a title warning. I expected that game to be close but a 10th-minute red card left Brann's gameplan in tatters as the leaders ran riot, scoring in both halves to bring up another one of my bets.  

Bodo/Glimt are now firmly in pole positions but if Fredrikstad win their two games in hand they can close to within five points.

First up today is a trip to Kristiansund, a team sitting eight points behind them in ninth place. Kristiansund have won just once in their last nine games but their only home defeat all season came against Bodo/Glimt.

That makes me think the home win looks overpriced at 11/5 but the draw might be more likely at 9/4. Backing the half-time stalemate could be the shrewd move at 6/5.

Hilmir Mikaelssen should lead the line for Kristiansund and looks overpriced at 5/2 for anytime scorer after netting in his last home game.

AC Oulo v SJK Top Tips

The race for the title in Finland is fascinating this season with seven teams still in with a realistic chance of glory after over a quarter of the campaign has been played.

SJK are one of the teams bang in the hunt and if they can win their games in hand they stand a good chance of hitting the summit.

With most of their title rivals in action yesterday, SJK will be out to respond when visit AC Oulu this afternoon.

SJK are in good form, with two wins and a draw in their last three, so look good value at 11/10 to beat a side sitting third bottom of the table.
