Partick Thsitle vs Dunfermline

, KO: 19:45 Feb 23, 2024, Firhill
Dunfermline

PARTICK THISTLE will be looking to get their Scottish Championship promotion push back on track when they face Dunfermline at Firhill on Friday night.

Despite drawing their last three league games, the third-placed Jags remain well on course for another crack at the playoffs come the end of the regular season.

Last time out, Kris Doolan’s side displayed terrific fighting spirit to twice come from behind to earn a 3-3 draw away at Inverness.

Back on home turf this weekend, Partick will look to cement their position in third spot by dispatching Dunfermline.

The Pars are enduring a torrid run of form at the movement, having failed to pick up a win from any of their last nine league games, most recently being held to a 1-1 draw when hosting rock-bottom Arbroath.

As such, James McPake’s men are currently residing in the relegation playoff spot and a trip to Firhill is unlikely to bring any respite.

Outright Betting

Partick Thistle are odds-on 4/6 favourites on UniBet to put the Pars to the sword for what would be the third time this season.

Dunfermline are 18/5 (PaddyPower) underdogs to claim what would be their first league win in over two months while a share of the Maryhill spoils has been priced up at 3/1 (PaddyPower).

Betting Angles

Partick Thistle look a little too skinny to attack at the above-mentioned price but siding with the hosts to win and Over 1.5 Goals looks more than enticing at 19/20 on UniBet.

Scoring goals hasn't been too much of a problem for Partick this season and that is evidenced by the fact that Kris Doolan’s side are the joint-highest scores in the division.

What’s more, the Jags have netted multiple goals in a league-high 15 of their 23 Scottish Championship outings this season, which doesn’t bode well for a Dunfermline side that have posted just three clean sheets across their 23 second tier outings this term to date.

That defensive fragility can be attributed to the Pars' current nine-game winless in the league, a sequence that stretches all the way back to early December.

It’s also worth pointing out that each of Dunfermline’s last six league defeats have featured a minimum of two match goals, with one of those losses coming against Partick at East End Park.

With that in mind, coupled with the fact that all ten of Thistle’s league wins this season have arrived via a scoreline that is not 1-0, supporting the same formula on Friday night at Firhill at 19/20 (Unibet) is a price that undoubtedly represents value.

After hitting a double in the Highlands last weekend, I’ll also back Partick Thistle’s Brian Graham to get on the scoresheet here at 21/20 (Bet 365).

The Jags skipper leads the way in the Scottish Championship goal-scoring charts with 12 strikes and he will no doubt be licking his lips at the prospect of going up against a Dunfermline side in dire form.
