SlipsTips shares a selection from Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie.
Aberdeen vs Celtic (Saturday, 12:30)
Aberdeen could hardly have asked for a tougher start to life without Barry Robson when they lock horns with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday lunchtime.
A 1-1 draw at home to Dundee in midweek proved to be the final nail in Robson’s coffin, with Peter Leven put in interim charge for this weekend’s visit of the champions.
Brendan Rodgers’ side restored their five point lead over rivals Rangers at the summit of the Scottish Premiership with a far from convincing 1-0 win at home to 11th-placed Ross County last Saturday.
Naturally, the Hoops head north as general 2/5 favourites this weekend, however I’m once again going to highlight a player-based selection that looks well worth supporting.
Aberdeen’s Graeme Shinnie has been priced up at 10/11 with SkyBet to commit two or more fouls on Saturday and that holds plenty of appeal.
Dons midfielder Shinnie has never been one to shy away from a tackle and he is sure to be in the thick of the action when Celtic come to town this weekend.
The Aberdeen skipper has already clocked up six yellow cards across all competitions this season, not to mention he is averaging 1.5 fouls per-game in the Scottish top-flight this term.
In fact, when digging a bit deeper, it can be seen that Shinnie has tackled his way into trouble twice or more in 11 of his 21 Scottish Premiership appearances this season so far.
That sample includes three fouls when Celtic visited Pittodrie earlier this season and a whopping five when Rangers were in the Granite City at the tail end of 2023.
With all of that in mind, coupled with the likelihood of the hosts coming into this game with a bit of a point to prove, backing the Dons' designated hatchet-man to commit two or more fouls stands out at 10/11 with SkyBet.
