ANDY RODDICK and Milos Raonic were the bookies outsiders in Saturday's Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis – but I predicted victories for both and I hope you took my advice.
In my semi-final preview I told you top seed A-Rod was “an appealing 23-20 with Sportingbet” despite three defeats to the Juan Martin del Potro and he delivered with a straight-sets victory over the wildcard.
I did fancy the American to give up a set against his Argentine opponent but you can't have your cake and eat it.
The outsider, and my pre-tournament tip, won so I'm happy.
Earlier in the day man of the moment Raonic produced the first bookie thumping with a 6-4 4-6 6-3 victory over fourth seed Mardy Fish.
The 20-year-old was 361 in the world this time last year but is set to become the highest-ranked Canadian in the history of the ATP Rankings at around world No.37.
If Raonic isn't a top-10 player in the next few years and an eventual Grand Slam winner I'll happily eat a racketful of the Centre Court grass at Wimbledon (if i'm allowed on).
Anyway that's the future. Roddick is understandably the favourite in Memphis (8-15, SkyBet) and while I'm sticking to my guns I wouldn't be shocked if Raonic (33-20), who won his first ATP event last weekend, lifted his second in a row.
A three-setter is almost certainly on the cards (11-8, Victor Chandler) with Roddick winning in three a 14-5 shot at Totesport. Raonic by the same margin is 9-2 with Bet365.
