SlipsTips returns to share two selections from the Scottish Championship on Saturday, with Dundee United's encounter with Queen's Park under the microscope.
Dundee United vs Queen's Park (Saturday, 15:00)
Dundee United will be looking to tighten their grip on top spot in the Scottish Championship when they take on Queen’s Park at Tannadice on Saturday.
After stumbling to a 1-1 draw when hosting Morton a fortnight ago, the ten-man Terrors got their title tilt back on track with a last-gasp 1-0 win at Inverness last weekend.
As for Queen’s Park, their bright start to the season is in danger of becoming a distant memory after four straight defeats, the most recent of which 5-2 annihilation at home to Ayr United.
Unsurprisingly, Dundee are heavy odds-on favourites here at a widely-available 8/15, however that price can be given an enticing boost to 10/11 (William Hill) by throwing Over 1.5 Goals into the mix.
Given that Dundee United have been in solid, yet unspectacular form during the early stages of the season, they should come into this game pretty confident about their chances of putting another three points on the board.
Jim Goodwin’s side have banked maximum points form four of their opening six league games of the season and they are the only side in the second tier yet to taste defeat this term.
What’s more, three of United's four league wins this season have produced a minimum of two match goals, and they should claim another comfortable win here against a Queen’s Park side that have been conceding goals at an alarming rate in recent weeks.
Robin Veldman has put his faith in a relatively young core and their proactive approach has resulted in them leaking a joint league-high 15 goals in seven Championship games.
It’s also worth pointing out that a towering 12 of those strikes have been shipped across the Spiders’ last four league games, which doesn’t bode well ahead of the trip to the City of Discovery.
Each of Queen’s Park’s four league defeats this season have featured two or more match goals and the 10/11 (William Hill ) quote about that trend continuing when they take on the title favourites at Tannadice on Saturday is a price that definitely represents value.
Team news permitting, I’ll also back Dundee United's Louis Moult to grab a goal here at 13/10 with William Hill.
United’s star striker has scored three goals in six league appearances in this season and he looks like a prime candidate to get amongst the goals again on Saturday when faced with a fragile Queen’s Park defence.
