No.1 seed Andy Roddick reached the semi-finals of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis with a three-set victory over Lleyton Hewitt.
The American will now face his toughest test yet in the ATP500 event – the formidable figure of Argentine wildcard Juan Martin del Potro.
Del Potro dumped Michael Russell for the loss of just six games and is the 4-5 favourite with Blue Square and 888sport. A-Rod, meanwhile, is an appealing 23-20 with Sportingbet.
I expected Roddick to give up a set against Aussie Hewitt and I believe the winner of this semi-final will also have to relinquish a set.
Del Potro has beaten his opponent in all three previous meetings, but I always say runs have to end sometime and Roddick is driven by the opportunity to win his 30th Tour title.
Also Roddick was my pre-tournament tip and I can't change my mind at this late stage. He can beat Del Potro 2-1 (4-1, Stan James) to advance.
The winner, hopefully Roddick, will face either American Mardy Fish, or man of the moment Milos Raonic of Canada.
No.4 seed Fish dumped fellow American Sam Querrey in straight sets while Roanic needed three to secure his seventh win in a row.
I think the 20-year-old will be feeling gr-eight tonight after he lands a big Fish. Raonic is 21-20 with Boylesports, his opponent 5-6 at William Hill, 888sport and Blue Square.
Bonkers Bet:
- Roddick 2-1 (4-1, Stan James).
