Lyon are seeking their first win of the season as they host champions PSG in a Ligue 1 fixture on Sunday. The Parisians have not also been at their best so far but look a bit more put together than their hosts and should have the upper hand here.
Lyon are coming off a 0-0 draw with Nice in their previous Ligue 1 fixture. They will consider themselves lucky to even earn that point having been second best for much of the encounter, finishing with just one attempt on target.
The result and particularly the performance is an extension of Lyon’s poor start to the season as they remain winless after three matches. Laurent Blanc’s men began their campaign with successive defeats prior to that draw at Nice last weekend.
Lyon are currently second bottom on the standings and while it is still early days in the season, they will be desperate to jumpstart their campaign. Home form will play a pivotal role in the success of their campaign but they were beaten 4-1 by Montpellier in their previous Ligue 1 fixture at Groupama Stadium.
PSG have also not been at their best early in the season with their title defence seemingly off to a slow start. They have looked slightly off colour this term and are currently eighth on the table after claiming just one win and two draws from their opening three matches.
The good news for PSG is that their only win came last time out as they triumphed 3-1 over Lens. Marco Asensio opened the scoring just before the break while Kylian Mbappe netted a second half brace before the visitors pulled one back late on.
There were major changes at PSG in the summer with Neymar and Lionel Messi moving on while Luis Enrique is the new man at the helm. Given the level of changes at the club, the Parisians’ early season struggles is not particularly surprising. However, they have crucially remained unbeaten across far and will be keen to kick on from that win over Lens.

PSG are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a win priced at 8/15 with bet365. Lyon are outsiders at home at 19/4 by Coral while a draw is set at odds of 19/5 by Unibet.

PSG have a 33-24 advantage with 16 draws from 73 previous matches against Lyon. Each team won away from home last season with the Parisians picking up a 1-0 victory at Groupama Stadium while Lyon earned a similar win in the reverse fixture in April.
Players to watch
Lyon are without striker Alexandre Lacazette, who serves the second of a two-match suspension. Tinotenda Kadawere is likely to be tasked with leading the line on Sunday and is priced at 17/4 by Unibet to get on the score sheet.
Despite the overhaul in the French capital, PSG’s major coup appears to be patching things up with Kylan Mbappe and bringing him back into the fold. The forward is already showing his importance to the team with three goals in just two appearances and is priced at 3/4 by 888Sport to maintain his scoring run.
Anything else catch the eye?
There were over 3.5 goals in PSG’s previous fixture and a similar outcome is valued at evens with William Hill. The Parisians scored in both halves last time out and could be set for a similar pattern at evens with BoyleSports.
