Racing tips: Unlucky loser last time out, Bollin Margaret, will make amends at Thirsk

A couple of duds over at Chantilly on Sunday. Marshman looked to have a nice chance entering the final few furlongs, but as soon as Clifford Lee reached for the stick he drifted to the left, and to me that says that he's still not mentally mature. I don't think the small jink did anything to his race, but I'm sure connections will want to iron that out as he is capable of winning some decent races.

Thirsk 5:00 – Bollin Margaret 2/1 (2pt B365)

As I say on most Mondays, it's normally best to not get too heavily involved as the racing is poor. Even though there are plenty of racecards today, nothing really stands out to be a good bet other than a previous tip of mine, Bollin Margaret.

The 6yo filly should have won last time around, there's no doubt in my mind. But, David Allan gave her a pretty shoddy ride, his riding action was one who had lost an iron, even though he hadn't. She was cruising through that race, David tried delivering her very late, which was due to not finding a gap, and when he did he couldn't get ahead of the winner, who had a clear passage. She stayed on well that day which gives hope that the trip of 12f will bring out a bit of improvement. If you look through her previous runs at this trip, most of the time she hasn't run to form, which is a bit confusing as the way she runs looks like she should suit it, and the pedigree of the Dam's side gives confidence she will stay the trip out.

This is another Class 6 race, and as long as she's not feeling the effects of the previous race 7 days ago, she should be tough to beat, in what appears to be a very poor race, so the top weight doesn't bother me in the slightest.
