Roma continue their push for Champions League football as they host Udinese in a Serie A fixture on Sunday.
The hosts are coming off a 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord in their Europa League quarter-final first leg clash on Thursday. They would be disappointed to have come away empty-handed after wasting several chances with captain Lorenzo Pellegrini even smashing a penalty against the woodwork.
While they anticipate the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico, Roma must turn their attention to domestic matters and the quest for a top four finish. Jose Mourinho’s men are currently third and claimed a 1-0 victory at Torino in their previous Serie A fixture.
That was the second straight Serie A win for Roma, who also claimed a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria. That result extends a solid record at the Stadio Olimpico as the capital club has now won six of their last seven home matches in Serie A.
Sitting 10th on the table, Udinese seem to have little to fight for at the moment as they are well clear of the relegation zone and not in contention for anything further up the standings. That lack of motivation has been evident in their recent outings having claimed just two wins in their last 10 matches.
Udinese travel to the capital off the back of a 2-2 draw with Monza in their previous Serie A fixture. Samdi Lovric’s early effort was cancelled out by the visitor in the second half before Beto salvaged a point with a late penalty.
Among the problems for Udinese is a poor record on their travels having won just two of their last eight away matches in Serie A. Andrea Sottil’s men have suffered five defeats in that run and were beaten 3-0 at Bologna in their previous fixture in the road.

Roma will be seeking some revenge after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the reverse fixture back in September. The capital club had been unbeaten in four matches prior to that defeat, with two wins at the Stadio Olimpico among their results in that run.
Players to watch
Paulo Dybala has been on target in three of the last four Serie matches and could be the one to watch for Roma on Sunday. The forward now has 11 goals in the league and is priced at 15/8 by Unibet to get on the score sheet.
Beto can be worth keeping an eye on for Udinese after taking his tally to 10 Serie A goals with his effort last time out. The striker is priced at 3/1 by bet365 to get on the score sheet on Sunday.
