An exciting contest could be on the cards as Brighton & Hove Albion host Brentford in a Premier League fixture on Saturday.
The task for Brighton in the final 10 games of the season is to do enough to finish in the European places. They are currently seventh on the table, five points behind fifth placed Newcastle United and are also in the semi-final of the FA Cup.
Brighton have the momentum right now as they are unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions. Roberto De Zerbi’s men have claimed four wins in that run, including a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in their previous Premier League fixture and a 5-0 hammering of Grimsby Town in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
One of the more impressive aspects of Brighton’s campaign is their form at the Amex Stadium. They have won six of their last seven home matches across all competitions with a few one-sided results in that run like the 3-0 victory over Liverpool and the 4-0 thrashing of West Ham.
Brentford are also having an impressive campaign and like Brighton, hold some hopes of securing a European place. They are comfortably in the top half of the table, level on points with Brighton, who are only above them due to a superior goal difference.
The Bees have also been decent lately and have suffered just one defeat in their last nine matches across all competitions. However, they have only claimed four wins in that run with the rest ending in draws, including a 1-1 scoreline with Everton in their previous Premier League fixture.
A problem for Brentford is that they have been erratic on their travels with just three wins from their last 10 Premier League away matches. While Thomas Frank’s men claimed a 2-0 victory at Southampton in their previous fixture on the road, there have been a few heavy defeats in that run, including a 5-1 hammering at Newcastle United.
How the bookies view it
Brighton are considered overwhelming favourites among the bookies with a home win priced at 8/13 by BetVictor. A victory for Brentford is valued at 4/1 by bet365 while Paddy Power is offering odds of 3/1 for a draw.
Head to head
Brighton and Brentford have claimed 11 wins each with seven draws from 29 previous meetings. The reverse facture back October ended 2-0 in favour of the Bees with Ivan Toney getting both goals.
Players to watch
Kaoru Mitoma often carries the attacking threat for Brighton and having found the net in the win over Grimsby Town, could be worth considering to score anytime at 27/10 with Unibet. Winger Solly March has also been on target in his last three matches and is priced at 4/1 by Paddy Power to get on the score sheet in Saturday.
As always, Ivan Toney will be the one to watch for Brentford as he looks to add to his 16 Premier League goals this season. The striker also netted a brace in the reverse fixture and is priced at 5/2 by Paddy Power to find the net on Saturday.
Anything else catch the eye?
There is no shortage of attacking quality on both sides which means Saturday’s clash could be set to produce goals. Over 3.5 goals is priced at 19/10 by BetVictor while over 2.5 goals is valued at 7/9, SBK is offering 16/19 on both teams to score.
Brighton have scored in both halves in two of their last three home matches and Saturday’s clash could be set to follow a similar pattern at 6/4 with bet365. Given the minimal odds for a straight victory, the Seagulls can be tipped to earn a win and over 2.5 goals at 17/11 with 10bet.
