The Caddys Golf Tips

It’s a final chance for those to brush up before heading to Augusta for The Masters and theirs also one golden ticket up for grabs for the winner of this weeks Valero Texas Open at the Oaks Course, TPC San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas.

The 144 field with the top 65 including ties making it to the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $8.9M prize purse with the winner collecting $1.548M along with the Valero Texas Open title and that golden ticket to play at The Masters.

JJ Spaun returns to defend the title he won here last year, it was the American's maiden PGA Tour victory. His winning scorecard read 275, -13.

The Oaks Course will be playing 7,494 yards long this week, it’s a par 72 Parkland layout where putting stats on the dance floors will be a huge factor in determining who comes up trumps on Sunday evening in Texas.

The weather is forecast to be cloudy with sunny intervals throughout with the threat of thunderstorms on Thursday. Breezes will peak at around 15mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 8 pm on Thursday night.

So let’s move on with our betting tips for this week's Valero Texas Open.

Rickie Fowler 18/1 EW,1-8 places Ladbrokes

For my first and main selection at TPC San Antonio, I’m going to single out Rickie Fowler 18/1 EW,1-8 places Ladbrokes.

I’ve been recently raving about the 34yrs old from Anaheim, California and I feel a return to form can only mean one thing, another W is just around the corner for the ever-likeable American, possibly this weekend. With a victory in Texas also guaranteeing a place at  The Masters next week and with only one place remaining, you can count on Fowler this week to keep on producing the fine recent form which has seen him finish in the Top 20 at four event’s already this year.

Fowler's best finish this year was 10th at the Phoenix Open but 13th at The Players Championship was also a fine performance. He also finished runner-up at the Zozo Championship just a few months back and beat Jon Rahm in the round robin at last week's WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay but failed to qualify as Billy Horschel won every match in that group to progress.

Rickie Fowler is flashing up all over my radar at the moment. I’ve been keeping a close eye on him and how fitting would it be for The Master's runner-up in 2018 to win that golden ticket for Augusta as well as his first title since winning the Phoenix Open in 2019.

The four-year wait for another title could all but end this weekend when Rickie Fowler claims the Valero Texas Open title, see you next week at Augusta Rickie

Ben Martin 100/1 EW 1-8 places Livescorebet

For my next best selection I’m going for another 100/1 plus winner so I’ll point you all in the direction of Ben Martin 100/1 EW 1-8 places Livescorebet. The 35yrs old from South Carolina has two Top 10 finishes this year and this price beggars belief especially as he arrives in Texas with much better form than most in this field with much shorter odds.

As you all know I’m always on the lookout for value and with the golf season heating up all those hours spent following and viewing players have always paid off for us here at MFT, it’s the season when the winners usually pile in and the research is all worthwhile.

Ben Martin finished inside the Top 10 with 8th place at last week's Corales Puntacana Championship and a  few weeks prior he finished even better with 5th place at The Honda Classic. Ben Martin still only has one W to his name on the PGA Tour when bagging the Shriners Hospital for Children Open way back in 2014 so it’s about time he doubles with another victory when he conquers the Oak Course at TPC San Antonio safe in the knowledge that just a place returns a tidy profit.

Davis Riley 25/1 EW 1-8 places Skybet

For my final outright betting tip to win the Texas Open I’m going to suggest Davis Riley 25/1 EW 1-8 places Skybet. The 26yrs old from Mississippi could easily be my first or second pick this week and is another who has come close this year without collecting the prize. 8th place at the recent Arnold Palmer Invitational can be backed up with another Top 20 finish at the Valspar Championship.

Now the greatest clue off all here could be course management and although Davis Riley is still to make his breakthrough on the PGA circuit, he has won on this track previously when winning the TPC San Antonio Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2020. He clearly enjoys playing his golf in these parts and it definitely won’t be long before Davis Riley bags his maiden PGA title. This event could be the perfect opportunity for him to make that breakthrough with many more to follow.

He hit the bar at last year's Valspar Championship when beaten in a playoff by Sam Burns but could net himself the winner's cheque this weekend in Texas when he bags the Valero Texas Open title and with it an entry to The Masters starting next Thursday.

So all that’s left now is the match bet and for this week's Nap I’m going to advise that Chris Kirk beats the defending champion JJ Spaun over 72 holes 10/11 Bet365.

Thanks Alves & all the best with your selections, FRL isn’t really a market I get involved with ,it’s more like a lottery but when it lands it’s always usually a good price . Good luck mate 🤞⛳️
