MANCHESTER CITY legend Vincent Kompany will make an emotional return to the Etihad on Saturday when he takes his runaway English Championship leaders Burnley there for an FA Cup quarter-final.
The Belgian boss was with City for 11 years where he won four titles, three FA Cups and four League Cups. If Pep Guardiola ever decided to chuck it at City, Kompany would surely be one of the favourites to succeed him.
In his first season in Lancashire, Kompany has enjoyed a dream campaign in what is widely thought of as one of the toughest leagues in the world to win.
Currently, Burnley are 13 points clear although, like City, they have dark clouds on the horizon, after being slapped with a transfer embargo, although Kompany has insisted he isn't worried by the decision.
Manchester City could hardly be coming into this in a better place after a remarkable 7-0 thumping of Bundesliga high-fliers RB Leipzig in the Champions League, where Erling Haaland helped himself to an incredible five goals before he was subbed, mercifully for the Germans.
Although the FA Cup is the lowest by some distance of City's priorities, they have the international break after this so will almost certainly be close to full strength.
