It's nice to be back putting up some selections, hopefully, some winners. As always, I'd like to thank my good friend Cairnzy for stepping in over the last couple of weeks and filling the void as I've not been able to put up any selections.
Unfortunately, I've not had the time to keep an eye on the thread but it was great to see him land a good winner with Iwilldoit in the Warwick Classic Chase. I've wanted to back this horse since the win in the Welsh Grand National at the start of last year and was hoping he'd return to that race this year, but sadly he didn't. He is a tremendous horse with a fair few pounds in his pocket and is a lively contender for the Grand National in April.

Based on recent efforts, this race should be between THOR DE CERISY and Prime Pretender. I've decided to go for the Michael Scudamore horse out of the two as I think he is the classier horse of that pair.
Scudamore's horse isn't a spring chicken at the age of 9 but he has started to find his feet this season, running a big race on chase debut at Linfield before winning last time out over today's C&D over hurdles. It must've been a pleasant surprise for connections to see him run so well the first time out on his chase debut as he nearly nabbed it from the front and went off at odds of 28/1. That was his first run in 224 days, so his fitness might've told in the final few furlongs, but overall it was a very nice start to his life over fences.
The form of the Lingfield race could hardly work out any better. The front two (Thor De Cerisy was 3rd by 6.5L) have both gone on to win since, with the winner winning in good fashion. You also had the 6th horse go on to win next time out and Sheldon who was a faller also won since, so for the grade, you'd have to say that is rock-solid form and if Thor De Cerisy produces a similar run, he could be very tough to beat.
I'm not quite sure why they decided to run him over hurdles last time out, but it worked. It might've been due to the number of cancelled meetings and they felt they had to run him and it worked out nicely. He was well-backed that day, going off at 9/4F so they must've felt he was on a good handicap mark, and he won with a fair amount in hand, even though he was running over a 4f shorter trip from the previous run.
The main concern for me is that he is carrying top weight in comparison to his main threat who is carrying 19lbs less. But, he is a horse who likes to run from the front, so if getting into a good rhythm he could be hard to peg back, especially on ground which he seems to relish.
Prime Pretender is the nearly horse. With 4 2's next to his name from his last four runs it looks like a horse who is tough to win with. He does tend to sit quite far back in his races, so I'm hoping Adam Wedge applies the same tactics today as there should hopefully be a fair distance between my selection to his when jumping the last couple of fences.
Welcome back mate 👍🏻
Thanks pal, hopefully, you’ve been having plenty of winners recently.
