Brentford vs AFC Bournemouth
English Premier League, KO: 17:30 Jan 14, 2023, Brentford Community StadiumBRENTFORD will be bidding to stretch their unbeaten run in the Premier League to seven matches when they entertain AFC Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
After securing an impressive 13th-placed finish in their maiden top-flight campaign, Thomas Frank’s team have swiftly dismissed any notions of second season syndrome surfacing at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Having already beaten both Manchester United and Manchester City this season, the Bee’s started the new year with a bang by adding Liverpool to their latest list of scalps.
That triumph means Brentford are currently surveying the standings from the lofty heights of ninth, and they will now turn their attention to strengthening their place in the top half of the table when Bournemouth come to town.
The Cherries’ recent form would suggest that the new manager bounce they received from boss Gary O'Neil has now evaporated, with Bournemouth losing seven of their last eight league matches, the most recent of which brought up my recommended Bet Builder.
That terrible run of form has seen them tumble towards the foot of the table, with the south coast club sitting 16th, just one point outside of the relegation zone.
Outright Betting
Brentford, who have avoided defeat in eight of their nine Premier League home games this season, head into this teatime tussle as 4/6 (Bet 365) favourites.
Bournemouth have slumped to defeat in each of their last four top-flight road trips and those away day blues are expected to continue here, with a Cherries win chalked up at 4/1 (William Hill) while the stalemate pays 10/3 (UniBet).
Betting Angles
Brentford are too short to back at the above-mentioned quote but merging a home win and under five match goals will bring about an enticing even-money (Bet 365) play.
While the Bee's are defying expectations this season, they are not a side that are renowned for blowing teams away with an endless supply of goals.
That is evidenced by the fact that five of the Londoners' six Premier League victories this season so far have featured four goals or fewer, not to mention the same combination would have clicked in 11 of their 13 top-flight triumphs last term.
It's also pointing out that Thomas Frank's side have done the majority of their best work at their Brentford Community Stadium base this season, with league leaders Arsenal the only visiting side to emerge victorious thus far.
As such, Brentford will be quietly confident that they can take advantage of Bournemouth's travel sickness, with the out-of-sorts Cherries chalking up just five points when operating outside of the Vitality Stadium this season so far.
What's more, the above-mentioned Bet Builder would have paid out in seven of the visitors' overall 10 league defeats this season to date, so that only adds to the appeal of supporting the same even-money (Bet 365) shot on Saturday evening.
After notching in Brentford's last Premier League outing against Liverpool, I'll also back Bryan Mbeumo to make the net bulge here at 7/2 (UniBet).
Three of Mbeumo's four Premier League goals have come in home matches this season and he looks overpriced to get more joy in front of goal when he comes up against the leakiest defence in the division this weekend.
