AIMING to end a four-game losing run, Aberdeen welcome rock-bottom Ross County to Pittodrie in the Scottish Premiership on Monday.
Jim Goodwin’s side were sitting pretty in third going into the World Cup break, but their form has since taken a rather hefty and unexpected nosedive.
Back-to-back losses courtesy of late goals to both halves of the Old Firm were followed by a pair of defeats away at St Mirren and Kilmarnock respectively.
Consequently, the Dons have dropped down a place to fourth spot in the Scottish top-flight standings, so they will be desperate to address their slump in form when Ross County come calling.
The Staggies were finally showing signs of getting their act together before the season paused, however since the resumption they have thus far failed to rediscover their rhythm.
Malky Mackay’s men have lost each of their last four matches, the most recent of which was a damaging 3-0 loss away to fellow strugglers Dundee United, a setback that saw County slide to the foot of the table in the process.
Outright Betting
Despite losing each of their last four games, Aberdeen enter their opening fixture of 2023 as 4/6 (Betfred) favourites.
September’s reverse fixture ended all square and the same outcome here can be backed at 11/4/ (Bet 365) while a Ross County success pays out at 9/2 (Bet 365).
Betting Angles
Aberdeen are too short to trust at the above-mentioned price, however we can get some 4/5 (William Hill) on the home team hitting two or more goals and that looks like a worthy boost price.
Granted, Jim Goodwin’s side have been out-of-sorts in recent weeks, however a fixture with relegation-threatened Ross County may just be what they need to reignite their season.
Aberdeen have done most of their good work in the Granite City this season, having won six of their nine league games, only failing to score against table-topping Celtic.
What’s more, the Dons have delivered two or more goals in seven of their nine Pittodrie outings to date and I fancy them to follow suit against one of the leakiest defences in the division.
Ross County have failed to keep their sheets clean in 15 of their 19 Scottish Premiership games this season, conceding at least one goal in eight of their last nine matches.
It’s also worth pointing out that the Staggies have shipped 2+ strikes in five of their most recent seven top-flight fixtures, and that only adds to the appeal of backing Aberdeen to hit a brace here at 4/5 (William Hill).
Elsewhere, I’ll also side with Aberdeen top soccer Bojan Miovski to start the new year with a goal at 5/4 (Bet 365).
A massive 10 of the North Macedonian marksman's’ 11 Scottish Premiership goals this season have been scored a Pittodrie and I suspect a visit from bottom club Ross County could represent an ideal opportunity for him to end a four-game scoring drought.
