Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leicester City

, KO: 14:00 Sep 4, 2022, Amex Stadium
Leicester City

BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION will be bidding to bounce back from their first Premier League defeat of the season when they face Leicester City at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Seagulls managed to finish ninth in the top-flight last season, which proved to be their best-ever league finish at the elite level of English football.

Graham's Potter's posse picked up where they left off by pocketing 10 points from the first 12 on offer before losing for the first time this season at newly-promoted Fulham on Tuesday night.

As such, the south coast club will be keen to get straight back into the winning groove when Leicester City come calling this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers' side have made a wretched start to their campaign and find themselves rock-bottom of the table after five rounds of fixtures.

Last time out, the Foxes fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United and they won't get any favours from a Brighton side that will be smarting from their own midweek setback.

Outright Betting

Brighton & Hove Albion, who have avoided defeat in each of their last six Premier League home matches, head into this contest as odds-on 5/6 (Bet 365) favourites.

Leicester City are without a top-flight road success in their last eight attempts and the bookmakers' odds expect that trend to continue here, with an away win chalked up at 7/2 (Bet 365) while the stalemate can be backed at 11/4 (SBK).

Betting Angles

Although Brighton will have their backers at the above-mentioned price, I suspect this match could be a bit closer than the outright odds suggest, so backing both teams to score looks like an enticing alternative at 17/20 (SBK).

While Graham's Potter's team have once again proven themselves to be a tough nut to crack this term, they could struggle to keep forward-thinking Leicester at bay.

The Foxes have scored in four of their five league games this season, not to mention they notched up at least once strike in a sizeable 17 of their 19 Premier League matches away from the King Power Stadium last season.

However, at the other end of the park, Leicester's s troubles have been well documented, with the visitors leaking at least one goal in each of their five league outings thus far.

That doesn't bode well given that Brighton have made the net bulge in 11 of their last 13 top-flight fixtures, and they should be capable of carving out opportunities against Brendan Rodgers' brittle backline.

With all this in mind, coupled with the fact that both teams have scored in four of the visitors opening five league games, going for goals at both ends at Amex stands out at 17/20 (SBK).

With all things considered, the 19/20 (PaddyPower) about over 2.5 goals also looks like an attractive betting proposition in what should be an entertaining encounter on the south coast on Sunday afternoon.

Nine of Leicester's last 11 Premier League games have crossed the over 2.5 goal barrier, so the same wager could be worth considering this weekend at 19/20 with PaddyPower.

Finally, I'll also dip into the first goalscoerer market where Brighton's Brighton's Pascal Groß is perhaps worth a speculative punt to open the scoring at 11/1 with Bet 365.

The Seagulls playmaker, who has been playing in a more advanced role this season,  has struck first in two of Brighton's opening five league games this season, so he could represent a bit of value to repeat the trick against what is a leaky Leicester City side.
