Racing tips: Corinthia Knight looks ready to pounce on a low handicap mark

With the British racing being extremely poor for me in terms of my form in recent weeks it was nice to get a winner in France where Baiykara won at 7/2 after being tipped up at 7/1. She looks a very good filly and I'll be following her progression and potentially backing her again in the future. 

Lingfield 3:38

ALGHEED is the biggest outsider in this five runner 6f race but that doesn't put me off from backing her as there is a possibility that she'll get the lead in this race where the others generally don't do so. In recent weeks where I've expected certain races to pan out in a certain way, they've normally gone the complete opposite so it wouldn't surprise me if this happened again.

She stays 7f and has been campaigned as a 7f horse for most of her recent career so this drop in trip looks interesting, and based on her good 2nd placed finish at this track behind Amber Island, I think this drop in trip could suit as she had the lead that day but his finishing effort looked very tired in the final furlong. She will more than likely try and set a decent gallop due to the fact she does have stamina over longer, and an uncontested lead can be tough to peg back on the AW, especially at Lingfield.

She is on her only winning mark of 75 which came at Lingfield, and the recent run at York can be forgiven as she is a much better horse on the AW than turf where she has been in the top three 8 times of her 10 runs. She could be overlooked in this contest where punters will be latching onto the horses who are deemed to be in much better form.

Pontefract 6:30

Some of you will remember when CORINTHIA KNIGHT was tipped up a couple of weeks ago and I stated the day after that they didn't try and win that race. He has gone down by 2lbs in the handicap from that race and it's not a surprise to see him returning to a track where he did very well at last year, winning two races as well as a third placed finish from the three tries at the Yorkshire venue.

There's no doubt that he is extremely well handicapped, and I still believe he has enough ability to win this race despite his sliding mark (probably done on purpose). The heavy weight might be seen to be an issue but I don't think it's as big of a deal as it might look. He won here last year off a weight of 10st 6lbs, which was off a mark of 92 which is 21lbs higher than his current handicap rating.

The forecast rain shouldn't be an issue as he won on soft ground at this track last year on slow ground. I get the impression many punters will be on him tomorrow for the same reasons as I have stated.

Pontefract 9:00

A starting handicap mark of 74 looks quite lenient for a horse with the pedigree of VEE SIGHT. This 3yo Churchill gelding is related to some smart horses who have been trained by Ralph Beckett, including Scope (Group 1 winner), Regardez & Glance who were both over 100 rated.

The overnight rain shouldn't be an issue for this lad as his pedigree on both sides offers encouragement that he might thrive under slow conditions like his half-brother Scope.

It might be risky to back him on seasonal debut on the back of 220 days, but this doesn't look to be full of high potential horses and I believe he could be much better than this field.
