A mixed day on Bank Holiday Monday with the one winner and three duds. The winner won by the skin of her teeth, but she was the most profressional horse in the race, and she was positioned prominently which was a big help. She drifted out to 9/2 which was a welcomed drift.

Epsom 2:55

It could be a bad idea to go for ARENAS DEL TIEMPO in this due to the fact she likes to race handily and up with the pace. There are quite a few horses who are similar and like to force the pace in this, so I'm hoping that they either let Hollie crack on with the selection, or Hollie takes a sit in 2nd/3rd and get a prominent position and pounces with a couple of furlongs to go. If Hollie decides to press for the lead, then it could turn into a bit of a burn up and favour the closers, but at the odds I think she is worth a small bet to win this.

I really do like Hollie Doyle around this course. She landed a nice bet for me last year for the Simon Dow yard on today's horse for owner Robert Moss. Simon Dow is a local trainer to Epsom, so target trains a lot of his horses for their meetings, which has seen it be successful across the years, especially with Robert Moss' horses. Robert has had 29 runners at Epsom, resulting in 8 wins and a further 8 placed, with a profit of +27.58 to level stakes. Hollie has rode for these silks 17 times, winning on 5 occasions, so the booking of her is a positive one. This horse carries a low weight of 8st 5lbs, which is the joint 2nd lowest in the race, she is also a previous C&D winner, which is quite key for me at this track as it's very niche and not all horses seem to handle it.

She arrives in good form, recently finishing 3rd at Lingfield after a 52 day break, which will have got her perfect for today's race. The more the ground dries out the better for her chances, as she relished good ground when rising through the handicap last season, going from 61 rated to now being 83.

Soto Sizzler is a horse who loves it around this track, but I feel that off a mark of 99 at the age of 7, he'd have to run a big race to give the weight away to a progressive young horse like Arenas Del Tiempo. It could set up perfectly for him, and his yard are in tremendous form, but his odds are extremely short and I think he is worth taking on. In the last 10 years the max weight carried to a win in this has been 9st 1lbs, with 3 of those 10 being 8st 4lbs or lower, so it has paid dividends to be with a horse carrying a light weight in this particular race.
