SO this is it! We’ve had our first taste of European action but the UK domestic season kicks off for real with the opening round of the Scottish Challenge Cup ties on Saturday.
There are 15 matches followed by the big one – Albion Rovers v Rangers on Sunday.
I'll put up a normal top treble but I'm also picking one from this tournament. I like Morton, one of the First Division title favourites, at Annan at 4-9 with BetVictor.
Morton have been impressive in pre-season, the highlight being a 4-2 win at derby rivals St Mirren, and should have too much firepower for the Third Division side.
For my Super Single I’m on Dumbarton, who have also enjoyed a decent pre-season, and defeated Falkirk 3-2 last time out. They also lost 4-3 to Partick Thistle and 5-4 to Queen's Park so a constant has been goals.
So while the Sons look a good bet at 23-20 with BetVictor an over 2.5 goals line is also likely. In fact last season 18 of their 19 away games went this away. Stranraer finished third bottom in Division Two and will struggle to cope with a First Division side who ended the campaign on a high under Ian Murray.
Complete the treble with holders Queen of the South against non-league Spartans. The minnows qualified for the tournament proper with a one-goal aggregate win over Threave and could find it tough going against Jim McIntyre's side at Palmerston.
McIntyre has replaced Allan Johnston who led the club to league and cup glory last season and will want to get off to a flier. Queens are a bit short at 1-6 so back them on the handicaps at 4-9 with Coral -1.
