Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur

, KO: 14:00 Nov 7, 2021, Goodison Park
Tottenham Hotspur

ANTONIO CONTE will be desperate to get off to a winning start in the Premier League as Tottenham boss and will fancy his chances against an Everton side whose form has taken a nosedive since a promising start to the season.

Spurs binned Nuno Espirito Santo just a few months into his reign with fans far from happy at a lack of style and results. And it didn't take them long to install a new gaffer as Conte, one of their top targets before Nuno landed the gig as Jose Mourinho's successor, was installed within 24 hours.

The Italian took charge for the first time on Thursday against Vitesse in the Europa League and it was quite the introduction, with Tottenham racing into a three-goal lead before hanging on to win 3-2 in a match that saw three red cards.

Conte certainly has the credentials to turn things around in North London, having won the Premier League with Chelsea and ruled Serie A with both Juventus and Inter Milan.

But he faces a tough job with Tottenham losing their last two league games to West Ham and Manchester United without even looking like scoring.

His one consolation is that Everton are in even worse form, with the Toffees winning just one of their last seven games. Rafa Benitez wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms at Goodison due to his past as manager of city rivals Liverpool yet won over plenty of doubters with a five-game unbeaten run at the start of the season.

That seems a long time ago, however, with the Toffees looking devoid of ideas up front and now leaking goals in defence as well.

A 2-1 loss at Wolves, which brought up one of Slips Tips bets, made it three defeats in a row so Benitez desperately needs a win to get disgruntled fans back onside.

How the bookies view it

Conte's arrival has shortened the odds on a Spurs win here and they are favourites at a best 29/20 with Novibet. Everton are 19/9 at VBet while the draw pays 23/10 with SBK.

Recent head to head

Everton had the edge over Spurs last season, going unbeaten in all three games. After grinding out a 1-0 win in London, the Toffees won a thrilling FA Cup tie 5-4 at Goodison (below) before a 2-2 Premier League draw back on Merseyside.

But Tottenham's recent record at Goodison is actually pretty decent, with a memorable 6-2 win in 2018 following up a 3-0 triumph just a year earlier.

Players to watch

Richarlison's return to fitness is a big boost for Everton as the Brazilian was sorely missed during his time on the sidelines. He's 5/2 with Unibet for anytime scorer which looks pretty decent value.

Conte has promised to make Tottenham more easy on the eye after the dreary fare served up by Nuno and that Euro debut was certainly a thriller. Heung-Min Son (below) has been Spurs' most consistent performer up front and is 11/5 with Bet365 to grab a goal here. The Korean is also a whopping 14/1 with Skybet to score from outside the area.

Anything else catch the eye?

Spurs should offer more of a threat under Conte and Everton have been leaking goals of late so I've a feeling we will see some action in this one. Over 2.5 goals pays 17/16 with SBK and that's worth a punt as it has landed in the last two meetings of these teams. Both teams to score has also come up in Everton's last two games and that's available at 6/7 with SBK.

I can see this being quite a fiery game as both teams are desperate to get back on track after poor runs in the league. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is always worth a punt for a card and the Spurs midfielder is 13/4 with Unibet to fall foul of the referee. Over 3.5 match cards also appeals at 10/11 with the same firm.
