I'D love to see Andy Murray crowned Wimbledon champion on Sunday but his task is as tough as ever.
It's the match-up I tipped pre-tournament and for the last fortnight with world No.1 Novak Djokovic facing No.2 ranked Murray.
The Serb is slight favourite with the bookies at 8-13 with Paddy Power and Skybet while the Scot is 6-4 at bet365 – but for me both should be 5-6 as the it's such a close call.
Djokovic has looked the slightly more solid player until the semi-final stage when he was pushed all the way by Juan Martin del Potro. Murray was cruising until the last eight when he became the Murray of old and put us through the wringer with a nerve-wracking win against Fernando Verdasco and battling success over big-serving Jerzy Janowicz.
Murray won the last meeting of the pair on grass at Wimbledon on his way to Olympic gold and he'll take great heart from that result. But there's no doubt in my mind he'll have to be at his very best to dump Djokovic.
So instead of picking a winner the call could be to back both to win 3-2 as the match has a great chance of going five sets. Murray 3-2 pays 6-1 at bet365 and Skybet while Djokovic 3-2 is 11-2 at sportingbet.
One surprise about Murray's semi-final was he served more than double the number aces of Janowicz who had chalked up 94 going into the game. Murray has won that market four out of five times he's played Nole so on the evidence of Friday can be backed at 8-11 with Skybet.
While Murray's aces total was superb against Janowicz there is no doubt Djokovic is the most consistent server. One incredible stat flashed up in his match with del Potro was the fact he'd averaged just one double fault a match so you have to think Murray will serve more doubles than his rival and that is 4-5 at Coral.
I tipped at least one tiebreak in Murray's semi-final and there was while two were played out on Djokovic's win against Del Potro.
In 18 previous meetings the duo have played nine tiebreaks so if it goes five sets you have to imagine there would be at least one 7-6 in there. A tiebreak in the Final pays just 4-11 (various) but two or more pays 11-4 at William Hill.

Whether I invest in this particular final depends on my Irish winnings tonight. I have to say though this could be the time for Murray to end the BBC’s yearly wail about there being no British winners at Wimbledon for donkeys. It’s hard to write off Djokovic though so 3-2 either way looks the bet.

Mr Kop, you can have bets on games or sets handicap. Murray +2.5 at 5-6 must be games handicap as +2.5 sets will be very short.

3-0 Djokovic in 3 close sets. Think Djokovic will edge the first. Murray has been a slow starter and will be suffering much more from nerves because of pressure on him. Once he’s a set up Djokovic will take control. Either 6-4, 6-4, 64 or maybe a tie-break in first or most likely 2nd.
For the tennis betting you can bet on Murray/djokovic +2.5,3.5 and 4.5 games. I take it this will be based on the total games over the whole match. So someone could potentially win more games than their opponent and win the games bet but lose the actual match?

pedro, true but I think the only time they met on grass was the Olympics semis over three sets so couldn’t read much into that especially as Djokovic is a former Wimbledon champion.
