Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on both the Europa League and the Conference League. I’ve picked a selection from each competition in which I fancy goals in to give us a nicely priced double.

Real Betis vs Bayer Leverkusen

🇪🇺 Europa League

⏰ Thursday 21st October, 17:45

Bayer Leverkusen travel to Seville to take on Real Betis at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Both these sides have made a perfect start to Group G, winning their opening two fixtures.

Despite going down 0-2 in their opener against Celtic, Betis came back to win 4-3 and they then followed up that victory with 1-3 win over Ferencváros to make it two wins out of two. Domestically, Betis currently lie in 8th, collecting 15 points from their first nine matches. Betis have scored in seven of their nine La Liga games, scoring 12 times. They have however, only kept two clean sheets and both of them came against Getafe and Deportivo Alavés who are the leagues bottom two sides.

Bayer came from behind in their group opener to defeat Ferencváros 2-1 before thrashing Celtic 0-4 at Celtic Park. However, Leverkusen were at the end of a thrashing themselves at the weekend, losing 1-5 to Bayern Munich. That’s now 12 goals conceded in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, with them also conceding four against fellow title challengers Borussia Dortmund. However, Bayer have found the back of the net in all eight of their Bundesliga matches this season, scoring on 21 occasions. That includes them scoring multiple goals in five of those fixtures.

Feyenoord vs Union Berlin

🇪🇺 Conference League

⏰ Thursday 21st October, 17:45

German side Union Berlin travel to Rotterdam to take Feyenoord at De Kuip. Union currently sit in 3rd spot on three points with Feyenoord sitting top on four points.

Feyenoord kicked off their campaign with a 0-0 draw away to Maccabi Haifa before defeating Slavia Prague 2-1 on home turf. Feyenoord had to go through three round of qualifiers to make the group stages of the Conference League, winning all three home qualifiers 11-2 on aggregate. Feyenoord have scored in all eight of their Eredivisie games this season, scoring 22 goals with 12 of them coming in their four home games. They have conceded 11 goals though, keeping only one clean sheet at home. Seven of their eight Eredivisie matches have broke the over 2.5 goal barrier, with six breaking the over 3.5.

Union recovered from their 3-1 defeat to Slavia Prague on MD1 by defeating Maccabi Haifa 3-0 last time out. Union have actually scored in all bar one of their eight games in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 12 goals. They have kept four clean sheets but all four have came at home, with two of them coming against sides in the bottom three of the Bundesliga. All five of Union’s competitive games on their travels have seen at least three goals, with a total of 21 goals being scored.

Bet of the Day

Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen have made perfect starts in Group G and have also had decent starts domestically. Both sides have been scoring goals this season, scoring 19 and 27 goals respectively and I expect both sides to make the net ripple in Seville. Both defences haven’t been exactly watertight so far and with that in mind, I’m expecting to see at least three goals being scored. Feyenoord’s game have certainly been entertaining this season with plenty of goals being scored. Union have kept a few clean sheets at home but their games are generally more open on their travels. I’m expecting both sides to score in Rotterdam and that should lead us to over 2.5 goals in what should be a cracking tie.

  • Real Betis vs Bayer Leverkusen – Over 2.5 Goals
  • Feyenoord vs Union Berlin – Over 2.5 Goals
  • Double Pays 17/10 (William Hill)
