ELLIS made a decent start with his first tennis tips and a win for Marin Cilic will bring up his debut treble.
Nicholas Mahut was one of his two selections who triumphed on a rain-affected day at Queens and he'll back in action on Wednesday against Andy Murray.
Bookies can't see past the Scot, who lost here to Mahut last year, despite injury forcing him to miss the French Open.
Murray says he's thankful for the extra time to practise on grass and is fit and raring to go but aceepts he might not be match fit.
It's senseless backing him at 1-9 with the likes of Skybet and bet365 but I might take a punt on Murray to win 2-1 at 10-3 with bet365. For those who fancy a shock Mahut is 11-2 (various).
Anyone what am I doing tipping tennis matches. That's Ellis's job – so good luck.
TENNIS TIPS – QUEENS DAY 3
__________________________________________________
A day full of rain yesterday at Queens led to a number of postponements pushing later games on the card back towards day 3, producing again a limited card for day 3 until we know a few of the winners from other games. As many of you are aware we are awaiting the result of Marin Cilic vs Ivan Dodig in order to identify whether yesterday’s tips were successful. However, as always I have tried to pick out a few bets for today’s card.
***FAVORITE DOUBLE***
To start off my tips I’m going to give a short priced double, as I struggle to see much match value from tomorrow’s matches. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga heads to this tournament in hot form after reaching the semi-finals of the French Open and I believe that he will bounce back to make easy work of his counterpart in the form of Eduoard Roger-Vasselin who has had poor form on the tour this year and he has not made it to a quarter final on the tour this year. He has never beat his French counterpart on grass and I expect Tsonga to make easy work of his French opponent.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of Thomas Berdych’s campaign as he takes on Thiemo De Bakker in his first round match. Berdych has always played well on grass which has seemed to always favour his sheer brutality and technicality from the baseline and I expect him to make easy work of his Dutch counterpart who has not got past the second round of a tournament this year. I feel that Berdych can make a real go of this tournament and I expect him to easily dispatch of his opponent.
Recommended bet –
Back Tsonga and Berdych to win 2-0 at 1.91
***SUPER SINGLE***
Lleyton Hewitt has started to hit a bit of form recently and I wanted to find a bet with a bit of value with the potential to cause an upset on tomorrow’s card. I wouldn’t lay your house on this bet; however, I believe it has the potential to be a successful one. Lleyton Hewitt has been steadily working his way back up the world rankings and he narrowly lost to Gilles Simon at the French open after being 2 sets up. However, he comes up against a Bulgarian pro in the form of Grigor Dimitrov who is also hot in form at the moment, beating Novak Djokovic only a month ago. However, grass isn’t his favourite surface and this is well proven in his struggle in the last round, just edging past the Israelian Sela in the first round due to a last set tie break win. It is this and the way Hewitt finished off the last two sets in the first round which make me believe that Hewitt has the potential to cause a second round upset and knock off Dimitrov. I am a little less confident on this bet, however, people want value and it is only fair I provide a tip which can give that to the people.
Recommended bet –
Back Hewitt to beat Dimitrov at 2.88
So there are my tips for the third day at Queens. Good luck and I hope that Cilic can get our day off to the perfect start driving home our day two treble.
Ellis, good luck with those and to Bruce for his golf tips.
Hopefully, another good day just need Cilic to fire home. Don’t know what it is, but, value is poor so far this tournament, I think it is due to the fact that a lot of players are choosing to play in Germany
ICC CRICKET TIPS – AUSTRALIA VS NEW ZEALAND
_______________________________________________
After a poor show yesterday at the Oval I am reluctant to stick my neck on the line and side with the outsiders again, although New Zealand produced a shock victory in their first match against Sri Lanka. My worry here was the fact that although New Zealand caused the shock they struggled to defend a total of 139 which they could have easily lost.
They face some skilful opposition in the form of Australia who also lost their first game to England, however, scoring much more effectively, just not having the fielding power to take wickets off England quick enough to prevent a higher score. I believe the batting power of Shane Watson and David Warner can produce a quite effective scoring partnership and I think they could set a relatively high score which New Zealand may struggle to reach on the basis of their last game. Ian Butler will play a key role for the New Zealand bowlers, but, whether he will have to power to take early and timely wickets remains to be seen.
Martin Guptill is on form recently and he recently posted a 189 against England in a ODI, and therefore be very careful if backing the top batsman market as many batters have the potential to score large here, highlighted by one of Shane Watsons’ matches recently in the IPL where he scored 26 in one over, posting a 114 not out. Guptill was out quite early against Sri Lanka, however, he was still one of the largest scoring batsman.
This is a very tough and unpredictable game to back and I wouldn’t go large on anything and below are therefore a few small punts. I would back Australia, however, I see no real value at the price of 8/11 and they seem way too short priced for me.
***RECOMMENDED BETS***
Martin Guptill to be top New Zealand batsman @ 4.0
Phillip Hughes to score more than Ross Taylor in the batsman match market @1.90
Ellis m8 i will be on the double for sure not so sure about the hewitt single but i will see how the day progresses with other bets and i will then give it more thought, but pretty solid double imho and hopefully that is fruitful m8
One thing for sure tho hewitt is a wily old warrior and the single may very well be the pick of the day m8
I don’t know mate I was contemplating, but, I thought I would put it up worth a sniff at just under 2/1. I see slight value in the double though. I’m off to bed haha been a long day. Speak tomorrow pal
Your logic is bang on m8 and as i say this actually might be the bet of the day
aha I was just paying attention to peoples advice of a bit of value. good luck tomorrow pal
Fingers crossed for you/us m8
I… did you back the treble out of interest?
I certainly did m8 and you are responsible for me eating for the rest of the week or starving ;-)
Cilic will probably let down knowing my luck aha , no I have faith in him
Ellis, Cilic should win. Is he not the defending champ too?
Yeah ellis cilic is deffo not going to make me attend the local soup kitchen 2 moro m8
haha as you said though Mr F, his record against Dodig is diabolical, should fly it. Mahut was by biggest doubt and he played brilliant
Ellis, I really fancied Mahut and he was Racing Post’s tip of the day too. I know Cilic has lost to Dodig but he’ll want to do well as defending champ. I just remembered this was the tournament that had that Nalbandian nonsense last year when he was booted out in the final.
haha yeah Nalbandian was going to win it haha,, did you back any tennis then Mr F
Ellis, just a single on Mahut. I think Cilic will win but the price is a little short. The other guy I wasn’t sure about. I do take other people’s tips but not without checking them out so Mahut single was fine for me. Going to put a little on 2-1 Murray just for some interest.
I, take a good tip when you know it yourself I know what u mean, I fancy Murray to win 2-0 but its hard to know what Murray will turn up. I don’t read the racing post so I wouldn’t know. When you know whats happening Mr F an email would be great so I know where I stand in the future. Much appreciated mate and enjoy amsterdam
Ellis, as I said will be speaking to admin about various issues over the next week or so then get back to you.
Ellis, thnx for treble last night (fingers crossed cilic). i’ve revised my decision yesterday. NZ won’t win. however i wanted to mention gotta disagree with the Hughes bet, aware the Taylor isn’t in greatest form, but i would go the other way, i think Taylor 28+ and just steer clear of hughes too many years of failing to play seam.
but you were relatively right last night with WI vs IND so i’ll stay out.
my bets
– Watson over 23.5 @ $1.92
– Guptill over 22.5 @$1.87
possible long shots.
J.Faulkner most Aus wickets @$4…..also Aus most 6’s @$2
I’m thinking Australia I just don’t like the odds
Dolgopolov @1.6 vs Giraldo
Jovanovski @1.55 vs Hlavackova
Flipkens @1.65 vs Tomljanovic
Cornet @1.45 vs Voskoboeva
—————————
total @5.93
they cld be lower. but fair play.
Youzhni M – Nishikori K. 2
Federer R. – Stebe C.M. 1
super single :
Zverev M. – Basic M. 2
good luck everybody :)
Virtuoso, I was going to tip Nishikori, however, I thought it was a queens post so I was best to leave it
Ellis what you think about tennis match??
Sijsling I. – Istomin D.
I think to play this on gems … over 21 gems.

Good Morning see hewitt has started off well a break up
I’m actually considering jumping on Dimi to beat hewitt @ 2.2
Well Titou still plenty time but hewitt looks pretty good so far, maybe take Dimitrov a set to suss him out who knows m8
looks like hewitt is going to secure the 1st set i may just get on Dimitrov to win the 2nd set @ 1.7
1plus2 you watching the game ?
Yes m8 i am
il take your comment into consideration then i havnt seen nothing but stats so far about to put the match on
Dimitrov has not been able to suss the old aussie out so far but maybe just toying with him ;-)
1-0 hewitt
haha i seen him serve out the last game comfortably
Dimi’s not looking onit i dont think il be taking him today
Aye m8 he seems very lethargic and bereft of ideas how to handle hewitt.
great performance from Hewitt Dimi couldn’t live with him
Yeah big thumbs up for Ellis flagging that up as his super single.
ahh i didn’t even see that that’s a great shout mate
Cheers lads been at work haha. Great result though. Thought it was the best single on the cards. I also see Berdych is a set up, will put some tips up tonight
Mr F,
Will you be doing a thread tonight
Ellis, I’ll schedule one with a vague intro. Don’t know what’s the score when I arrive tonight, probably dump bag and go straight out to a working party.
“” dump bag “”
You taking the wife then ?
Milesey
Milesey, your a laugh a minute. It’s a good old Scots term. I remember walking into a fairly posh London hotel a few years ago and asking the concierge “if it was all right to dump my bags here”. He looked at me like I had two heads.
OK pal yeah if its fresh ill put some tips. Don’t know how wide they will be as rain postponements already have meant that Hewitt being my single is the only one to be completed and a lot of matches are still due to be played
well done ellis
Thanks Ruby!
Berdych could be in trouble here!
Hope that rain break doesn’t come to bite us in the erse ellis :-(
not going great is it De Bakker come back strong , off back to work now with Berdych having to defend too many break points
Ellis, OK. Heading to the airport now. That post will go up back of 10.
Nice call on Hewitt, didn’t back it :( on the double tho, I see berdych did his part, now for tsonga. Cillic 1 set up aswell for the treble
Haha all good so far guys
Ok mr f. No worries
Well thats the treble up nice 1 ellis
Treble came in at 2/1 :) hoping tsonga does the business now. Cheers Ellis
:) all good until Tsonga plays
long wait ahaa, boring rain delay
Rain delay puts the double on hold until tomorrow, still had the nice 15/8 single come up, tomorrows tips will be on later
Good things come 2 those who wait ellis m8
haha, just out of interest have you been backing these heavy?
Just £10’s and £20’s ellis m8 nuttin serious always wary of tennis bets as they have stung me more times than a field of nettles
Still money in fair words mate
Sure is m8

abandonment at the oval due to rain has meant that all cricket bets have been voided so makes no difference
Mr F,
Only five new games to start tomorrow until some results are in. Will put a small post when the threads up
ellis he will be more than likely out his crust on mr kiplings dutch recipe cakes
Haha I thought that but he said a threads going up tonight
