THIS week's Monday Night football comes from Villa Park as Aston Villa host Sunderland I'm tipping goals, goals, goals for those who tune into Sky Sports One at 8pm.

Paul Lambert's side have moved out of the relegation zone in recent weeks but they are still right in the midst of a battle for survival.

They have a two-point cushion over Wigan behind them but as they have to travel to the DW on the final day of the season they will want to ensure their safety before then.

Wigan aren't the only other team in the relegation mix though as both Newcastle and Sunderland are just three points clear of Villa, so victory tonight would see all three of them level on 37 points.

The Villans lost 3-0 at Old Trafford last Monday but looked extremely dangerous on the break, and in truth, should have had a couple of goals.

Prior to that Villa had won three from five and had put three goals past both Stoke and QPR. Their defence is still pretty poor though – no clean sheet since the start of December – with 16 of their last 18 going over 2.5 goals and eight of those going over 3.5.

Sunderland have been revitalised under Paulo di Canio and after an initial defeat at Stamford Bridge they have won their last two and moved above bitter rivals Newcastle United.

In fact it was at St James' Park that their revival began as the Black Cats thumped Alan Pardew's men 3-0, with Stephane Sessegnon and Adam Johnson, in particular, having fantastic games.

Those two are coming into form at exactly the right time as Sunderland have struggled to score all season. They do have plenty of quality going forward, but it seems di Canio has been able to harness that much more effectively than Martin O'Neill did while in charge.

Away from the Stadium of Light, 11 of Sunderland's last 12 have had three goals or more, with four having three or more and they haven't failed to score since a 3-0 defeat at Anfield at the start of January.

This match seems to have goals written all over it and while I could play it safe with a lay of under 2.5 at around the 1.91 mark, under 3.5 is trading at a very low 1.36. It's worth risking that extra goal and that's why I'm making it my lay of the day.

    Hi milesey

Now if we lay under 3.5 goal for match its @ 1.37.

So mean we are putting money that it is going to be less than 3.5 goals? Right?

Than if we lay under 3.5 now than when can we back means at what point in the match we can back mate?

    Thanks.

A crucial game at the bottom of the Premier League table ended with some massive odds landed in various markets.

Aston Villa are 9.4 in the Relegation market after thrashing Sunderland 6-1 at a vibrant Villa Park this evening.

Paul Lambert’s men were generally available to back at 2.3 to win the game, and trading at around the 3.5 mark for relegation prior to kick-off, but put in a sensational display to move level with tonight’s opponents and Newcastle on 37 points, five clear of Wigan who have a game in hand.

But if you thought the result itself was huge news then consider the massive odds matched on the Betfair exchange.

Villa defender Ron Vlaar opened the scoring, much to the delight of those who backed him at 70.0 in the First Goalscorer market. Further goals from Andreas Weimann, Gabriel Agbonlahor, and a hat-trick from Christian Benteke completed the scoring with Benteke being matched at 36.0 to score three goals or more.

But the biggest odds matched on the night were undoubtedly the 660.0 matched on Villa to win 6-1 in the Correct Score 2 market.

And even a Sending Off – matched at 7.8 In-Play – was extremely popular and rewarded those who banked on a sixth red card in nine meetings between Villa and Sunderland.

The result means Wigan – who conceded a last minute equaliser to Spurs on Saturday – have a mountain to climb in their quest to mix the euphoria of a FA Cup Final appearance with the desperation of trying to remain a Premier League outfit. The Latics are 1.48 favourites to join QPR and Reading in the Championship next season.

    To be relegated

    Wigan (32 pts) – 1.48
    Newcastle (37 pts) – 8.8
    Aston Villa (37 pts) – 9.6
    Sunderland (37 pts) – 18.0
    Norwich (38 pts) – 21.0
