SPURS travel to Basel in the Europa League and despite conceding two away goals and missing Gareth Bale through injury they can upset the odds and qualify.

Basel have had a superb season to date, top of their domestic league and despite disappointment in not making it through the Champions League qualifying rounds, their Europa League performance has more than made up for it.

The Swiss champions are on a roll having progressed through their group and then despatching of the dangerous Dnipro and Zenit in the last 32 and last 16 respectively.

Murat Yakin's side were written off before their trip to White Hart Lane last week but took a shock 2-0 lead and while Spurs managed to level it up at 2-2, Basel are in the box seat to progress to the semi-finals.

Marco Streller is their leading scorer with 19 this term but it was Mohamed Salah who impressed me the most at the Lane as he was at the forefront of most good things that FCB did.

Spurs are without the injured trio of Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon and William Gallas for the trip to Switzerland and while the first two are huge losses the latter could be seen as a positive in some quarters.

The Spurs backline were looking decidedly shaky in the first half and it is likely that AVB will restore Michael Dawson and Kyle Walker to the side, especially given the fact the North Londoners don't have a game at the weekend.

Emmanuel Adebayor has a huge responsibility on his shoulders as he's the chief goal threat and there have been signs in recent weeks that he's discovering his touch in front of goal. The Togo international has scored three in his last five starts and will be supported by Gylfi Sigurdsson who is also starting to play at his best.

Clearly the Swiss team are the favourites to qualify but I don't think they are as nailed on as their odds suggest. Spurs still have quality in the absence of Gareth Bale and at around the 1.58 mark I have to make Basel to qualify my lay of the day.

You LAY LOW, you don’t lay above the 2.0 mark, your looking at odds of favs to LAY. Your right though, i’d rather be laying at 1.01 ;) ;)

Lay Over 2.5 goals in Juventus v Bayern Munich @ 1.88

Lay Sheffield United v Crawley Town @ 1.79

    PREVIOUS LAYS THIS WEEK

but Lay FC Basel to qualify v Spurs @ 1.58 is risky liability ? really ? I’m not going into the LAY market for sick of explaining it, there is no risk for you can only put on what you have in your account. You think they are going to start ripping money out of your bank account, if you can’t cover the bet by what is in your betting account, then you can’t put the bet on !

Basel looked a good outfit last game and Spurs yet to win away in the tournament so I would rather be a backer than a layer of Basel. Without Lennon and Bale I think Spurs will struggle, Adebayor not classy enough to do the job.

Guys, I’m on here a lot, but never comment. This week I commented on milesey’s lays because so far, so good. I followed the first two and I’m using profit from those two winning selections tonight. I’m not telling everyone to put the mortgage money on spurs, even if mile sell gets it wrong tonight, that still makes two out of three……without sounding like a meatloaf number….

Abi, hopefully the goal will encourage Basel to attack. One goal puts them through remember.

It’s a risky liability in terms of Basel are justified favourites playing at home against a visiting and depleted Spurs outfit, so opposing them to qualify is unlikely to be profitable.

That’s the point of LAYING, and would have been profitable if it had come in, just like when you lay an odds on Favourite horse and it falls, you make lots of profit LAYING as long as you keep the lays below 2.0.

and you can’t make a justified point now anyway to be honest for the game is finished, it was a good LAY at them odds as was should in the game tonight, BASEL were no 1.58 chance to qualify, tight game like it was, went all the way, and luck wasn’t there in the end……. so i move on.
