HERE WE GO! Get ready for the Greatest Show on Turf!
This year's Cheltenham Festival is certainly going to feel a little different but it shouldn't affect the quality of racing on show during the four-day extravaganza.
Day 1 of the festival kicks-off on Tuesday at 1.20 with the Supreme Novices' Hurdle then follows four days, 28 races, hundreds of horses and million dreams of Cheltenham glory on the line.
It's going to be some week so let's get stuck in…
Each day I'll be posting a race-by-race preview, alongside the Voice of Value. There's too much to fit them all on one page so click the links below to read about each race in depth. All the tips are summarised here though.

It’s finally here ….
Roughly 25% less runners on Day 1 than last year, both Covid and Brexit have made their presence felt but still some great races to luck forward to, hopefully.
ALL my bets have been done Antepost, with some done as early as Sept 2020, some have worked out well, some have gone in the bin, but that’s the chance you take. I’m not going to put up prices as I don’t think that’s fair.
There was 10mm of rain overnight and the going is now soft gd/sft in places.
I will put up some pointers for some of the races but you could also look up the trends yourself as they may help particularly the h’caps.
2 I use are Gaulstats and Juicestorm but there are many others to choose from.
Other things to consider, Jack Kennedy has an excellent return over the past 5 years of +47.00 and a 42% place strike rate so just backing all his mounts ew could be profitable this year.
Gordon Elliott has similar stats in the trainer dept but obviously that will be difficult to monitor this year with some having moved on.
1.20 Supreme
Although many stats are against Appreciate it, he has the best form in the race and should take all the beating, especially now that the ground has turned softer which will bring his stamina into play.
I backed Ballyadam before the DRF ew and although he has a bit to find hopefully he can finish in the first 3.
Arkle
Shishkin wins…..but also have Captain Guiness ew at a big price, so again hopefully he finishes in the first 3.
Ultima
Not a good race for irish horses, and its also not a good race for some of NH’s best sires
Milan, Fleminsfirth, Presenting, Old Vic or Oscar have yet to have a winner of this race.
I’m on Happygolucky who ticks all the trend boxes and won well over C&D in nov.
Champion Hurdle
I’m hoping Honeysuckle can win but it’s a fascinating renewal and should be a great race.
I’ve also backed Blue Lord ew
Mares
Concertista has been my banker of the festival since Honeysuckle was switched, but I’m a bit nervous now the ground has turned softer.
If she fails to win it will scupper my multiples as she’s pretty much in all of them.
Boodles
Looking for a horse rated 124=134 and French bred. Both Nixholls and Elliott have a very good record in the race.
I’ve backed Riviere D’etel and at a huge price Jeff Kidder for Noel Meade.
NH Chase
I’ve been on Galvin since he won at Cheltenham in Oct. He’s been put away since but that’s not a problem as he goes well fresh.
Plenty of money has come for Next Destination but at 9 I don’t think there’s much improvement left in him. Nicholls has never won the race so I’m hoping that stat continues. I’m also hoping that Willie Mullins wouldn’t let a good one go !!

Whats your concern with the soft ground for Concertista, plenty of form on soft and by Nathaniel? Or is it more you think it brings other horses into play like Roksana?

Yeah, it’s the latter point you make. If it was 2m wouldn’t be worried. 2 1/2 against Roksana on soft won’t be easy.
It is to be dry tomorrow though, so by race time the ground could be better

You may remember during the DRF I mentioned I would be keeping an eye on Blue Sari as a plot horse for Cheltenham.
Initially I thought his target would be the County but he’s now in the Coral and being backed off the boards

Honeysuckle is my pick of the day but the value has gone and I can’t see shiskin being troubled if I’m honest maybe Epetante w/o honey suckle and shiskin will be a better price only horse you would have any concern about imo is goshen but I think it’s between the top two this year good luck mate roksana w/o concertia is also a very good bet at around 2/1
that double at current prices is 2.2/1 not the worst given the prices but why not look to the place market using some of the mentions on here, have a couple bankers and mix in a few randoms, so 5 £2 accas instead of a £10 double. for example GALVIN is 10/11 for 3 places. BUSSLETON is 6/4 for 5 places, list is endless.
