Alan Thomson's sole bet Volcano won at 9-2 yesterday and he has a brace of pre-Cheltenham wagers at Stratford.
Stratford 1.00
SHUT THE BOX (1.00) deserves some reward for a series of consistent efforts in defeat this winter and can rectify matters in the two-mile novices' handicap chase at Stratford.
The seven-year-old could never quite get to grips with slick-jumping Editeur Du Gite at Newbury ten days ago and has been nudged up 2lb for his efforts. Kap Auteuil won handsomely last time but Shut The Box is fancied to have the edge over the favourite.
Stratford 12.30
STEPNEY CAUSEWAY (12.30) has more than 30 lengths to make up on Casa Loupi on their Ascot running behind Tritonic, but Dan Skelton's juvenile learned a lot from that initial experience on the evidence of his victory romp at Catterick 13 days ago.
It is a big ask turning round the form with Casa Loupi, especially conceding 6lb, but it's a chance worth taking in what looks a straight match.

Just 8 declared for the supreme novice opener.
What’s going on ?
Quite small fields for day one.
Surprised honeysuckle is as big as 5-2.
Think I will be backing that and galvin 9-4, singles and a double.
Probably a combination of a few things Elvis. This year we see so many hot pots and with owners not being able to get into the track to see there horses looks like alot of the so called rags are not running.
Also with brexit it’s more expensive and alot more paper work to send them over the water.
I mentioned yesterday it’s the smallest Supreme I can remember but I wasnt surprised with the small field Arkle ?
Morning all. I try so hard not to have a bet the Monday before cheltenham become I usually just give the bookies some of my cheltenham wedge. But I just spotted this one in the 3.33 at Stratford. Hiway one O three. The trainer does well in bumpers and over half of them have been placed this season. At 20/1, it’s worth a shot e/w to boost your kitty for this week
GL ?
Into 16’s with Skybet.

Someone must have put the word out ?, well done all those on early GL ?
Altior out

Absolutely no surprise he should be retired never been the same horse since his battle with Cyrname and now 11 year old.
12-30 Stratford.
Naizagai 16-1 ew 3 places.
Bonkers bet
Scarlett ruby 70-1 ew extra 4 places.
50p ew at 200-1 .
All weather form was poor, 3 turf runs for Roger Charlton 4th 3rd and won a 12 runner handicap at Chepstow.
Had a run out on all weather in January for new yard where it ran like a bag of of shite.
Maybe it was a blow out in readiness for today’s win ?.
Reality probably needs 4 of these to fall but that’s why it’s a bonkers bet ?
well done again Elvis nice ew price
