Leopardstown 1.15
IRELAND’S top trainers unleash some of their big guns at Leopardstown, with Gordon Elliott holding a strong hand in the 3m Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle.
Sire Du Berlais has won both starts since blinkers were applied, giving weight and a narrow beating to The Storyteller in the Pertemps Hurdle Final at Cheltenham before seeing off French Dynamite in early November. Stablemate FURY ROAD (1.15) built on his close third to Monkfish at Cheltenham by beating Dewcup in the Punchestown mud last month. Throw in Stayers’ Hurdle runner-up Ronald Pump, a close second to Honeysuckle at Fairyhouse in November, and this should be a post-Christmas cracker.
Leopardstown 2.25
MINELLA INDO (2.25) can mop up the Grade 1 Savills Chase over three miles. He would probably have landed last season’s RSA Chase at Cheltenham but for a last-fence error, and has since looked the real deal in landing the odds at Wexford and Navan. This will be no cake-walk, with the likes of Presenting Percy, Kemboy and Delta Work lining up in opposition.
Minella Indo Lep 2.25 11/4 cracking race but av always liked this horse.
Sashenka Catt 2.00 6/4 I like its flat form and gets weight off the main danger.
French Dynamite Lep 1.15 16/1 EW
Catterick.
1-30 Mick maestro 5-2.
3-07 cudgel 7-2.
Leopardstown.
1-15 Ronald pump 7-2.
2-25 delta work 6-1.
place only double
Ronald pump 8-11 top 3.
Delta work 11-10 top 4.
Double pays 13-5 or 2.62-1 (NAP)
I was looking at the 15:07 elvis and scrapped it at the last minute.
MAMOO is a CD regular and also enjoys the going, same rating as when winning here in Feb, 8/1.
LITTLE JACK was the first I looked at and that’s where I stopped, until I saw he was untested on the going, a very brief look into breeding and he shouldn’t have any problems, however top weight. What I liked was his run LTO for his previous trainer, he got with 1.5l of the winner, who then went in again next time up 9lbs in a better class, and then was hit with another 12lbs in a C2 and was 6/17, just about an EW price but I saw no reason to chance unecessarily.
Then the other I looked at was TOI STOREY, he won this race last year and is 10lbs lower, and given he is an EW price, looks worthy of support. Can’t argue with Brian Hughes being on but he isn’t synonymous with the trainer and she also has her regular apprentice on BUZZKILLBOB, which was a little offputting but given he is so well hcapped maybe she opted for experience.
Then there’s yours on a hattrick… should be an interesting watch.
Great info insider ?.
The weight will catch up with cudgel soon enough, I also think mamoo is due a big run soon, hope it’s not today.
elvis nice start with mick maestro
Cheers bus stop.
Thought I would never get a winner again ?.
Think it was 16-5 sp so a few more pennies.
Didn’t see the race but won by 15 lengths so Mr handicapper will be on his case now.
Noticed Ronald pump was non runner so my place double now a 11-10 single ☹️.
Good luck with your 3 later bud ?
think Mick will be easiest winner of the day, classic case of too much “money” came for old jar heads mount. if only i saw you tipped it, could’ve saved half a point :x
1.30 Catt Miss Heritage 3.59/1 (Hills boost) or 3/1 (B365 BOG) WIN
1735 Nwc – INSURPLUS 11/2 0.5pt ew3 places
I can’t leave this horse unbacked, forgive me for mentioning but it won be four figures last September when winning at 22/1, same CD but 10lbs lower, trainer had a few winners, decent claimer too; Sky and Hills offering 4 places at 9/2, would be happy with that even EW, hopefully you can get 4 places at 5s at least.
1605 Nwc – ISLAND STORM 4/1 0.5pt win, 0.5pt place top 3 5/6
3rd LTO round Kempton and dropped to 64. One year ago over CD this horse was winning off 74 and that is enough to warrant a bet. Sadly no EW price so instead have split my stake in the place market.
1705 Nwc – THREE CARD TRICK 10/1 0.5pt ew 4 places
Beginning to find his shooting boots under Phil Makin, who himself is in a bit of form. Managed an OK C5 4th here for Kevin Ryan over 6f rated 72. Was 2nd last month at Southell over 7, at the price, could well sneak a place now rated 56. As always, Rome wasn’t built in a day, check out EW EXTRA and be willing to go as low as 5/1.
1330 Cat – MISS HERITAGE 0.5pt win 3/1 0.5pt top 2 finish 11/10
Jar Head Bryony Frost has been having success for Lucy Wadham recently and that’s just about reason enough to chance their only horse here today. Not immaculately weighted but the paper form is decent enough, with that said I am splitting my stake as the win prospects are not overly obvious.
Thanks Insider. I enjoyed your insights the other day about racing and how deceptive it can be. I love that side of it: it’s a fascinating puzzle to solve.
exactly, aint much else like it is there. as for the tips, hopefully can start to build some steady profit, dont think we’re breaking the bank today though, caution definitely advised.
-1.95, removed two winners from final cut, and spotting a winner of last years race 10lbs lighter and ignoring it not ideal, but nothing to worry about, onwards. well done winners
2 cracking races at leopardstown today. The Saville’s could be the race of the year.
If the Christmas Hurdle was run at any other track I’d give Fury Road a big chance, but at leopardstown, not for me. Has run twice at the track previously and been well beaten on both occasions.
I wouldn’t put anyone off Ronald Pump. He finished like a train lto when he couldn’t quite get to Honeysuckle and was 2nd in the stayers at Cheltenham, but for me always tends to find one too good.
That leaves Sire Du Berlais who has won the Pertemps for the past 2 years. He gave The Storyteller 3lbs that day and beat him 1/2L so should confirm the form. He also won fto this season staying on strongly over 2m 4f when Ronald Pump fell although I dont think RP would have won anyway. He could have a big say in the stayers this year.
Sire Du Berlais 5/2
The Savilles
A real headscratcher of a race. Allaho ran no sort of race behind Min in his first run but there seems to be confidence behind him in the market. On his best form he would have a chance but he’s stepping up to face hardened grade 1 chasers here and would have had to have shown a lot more lto for me to have any confidence in him.
Minella Indo has done nothing wrong but hasn’t been tested this season yet. Backed him for the RSA and was sick when Champ did what he did at the finish.
He’s just too short for me as I still think he has to prove himself at this level.
There are plenty of others that could be mentioned but I’ve gone for
Delta Work who won the race last year and is the highest rated in the field.
In his first race last year he was beaten 15L and came out and won this. This year, in a much better race, he was only beaten 6L so I wouldn’t let his first run put you off.
He’s still 33/1 for the Gold Cup and that’s just too big. If he wins this today what will his price be.
I’ve backed him today to win and had a nibble ew for the Gold Cup.
In the first race I think the form of Indigo Breeze is better than the favs. Was only touched off lto by a horse who ran 3rd yesterday to Appreciate it.
GDM was beaten by Holymacapony who didn’t frank the form next time by pulling up
BOL
Hi DC, shouldn’t the same course form be applied to sire du berlais too? His course form is poor too.
that commentary from Jerry was cringeworthy lol.
2.25 leopardstown..KEMBOY.E/W.1.50 ARCTIC LIGHT.E/W..1.15 FRENCH DYNAMITE E/W
and the oscar goes to david mullins for his ride on kemboy how he got that horse beaten, i don’t think we’ve seen a performance since health ledger as the joker. the comparison with the winning jockey is a joke, the pulling of the heads horse, is a joke. and no, i didn’t have a penny invested. only saw the final 200yard replay too :D

Dear Dramatista owner.
Dramatista runs today and Jason Hart takes the ride.
Both Jason and Danny phoned up early for the ride on Dramatista today as Ben isn’t back riding until later in the week.
Dramatista came out of the race sound last time and I hope/expect that run to put her spot on for today’s race. We are drawn in stall 12 today, and with stall 13 a non runner that looks to be a very good draw, being just one off the fence.
The pace to the race looks to be drawn low rather than high however, which isn’t ideal.
Today is very much her Derby day and I do expect her to go very close with my only concern being if we find ourselves well away from where the race develops.
We will ride her with patience today and aim to deliver her to the front inside the final 300 yards.
I can’t see her finishing outside the first three and, depending on our luck, maybe more

Thanks rog money for it 8s into 5 actually money for 1st 3 in the betting also 3 NRs ?
Ran its race without every looking likely to win money back no damage done ?
given how straight laced racing is, let’s hope for some ‘dramatic’ improvement given what he’s done over CD to date, quality share nonetheless ;)

To anyone that is concerned about my MIA .
Sadly this month has been the worst of my life, not due to gambling or money.
On the 14th of December I lost my father to a long battle with cancer. He was not only a mentor to me, but my best friend.
To top the year off, we buried him on Christmas Eve.
Because of this, gambling for me has lost its meaning. I stare at the page and nothing comes to mind.
For this reason I will be taking some much needed time off.
But I leave you with the best gambling memory I have of dad.
Down on my luck, dad quickly turn to the PC and wrote down a £3 lucky 15.
Told me to stick it on for him and enjoy the races, imagine me placing a £3 bet must of made him chuckle.
Upon placing with betfred, one of dads horses was a NR, I phoned him to ask for a replacement. He said follow your gut don’t worry about price.
I replaced sed horse with Tangerine trees first time out at 33/1.
To my surprise all horses won. Printed ticket still on my wall . With a message from dad, after collecting the +7k .
He told me he purposely pick a NR so I would replace it, and told me money is money everything is relevant in gambling £3 or 3mill .
But to watch with the enjoyment that we did it together was the best memory he had .
Dad never placed a bet again, and simply said. Have fun win or lose there’s another day.
So good luck to you all in future endeavours ?
Sorry for your loss bud ❤️
Very sorry to hear about your loss Uncle Pom.If that’s how you feel signing off the site, I respect it.Just want to say thank you for your contribution and generosity to share your wisdom.Remember some time ago you throwing a 100/1 shot. All the best in whatever you do
Class Pom. Sounds like he was a top man. Definitely a good move taking a break too. Get yourself right. All the best
Sorry for your loss Pom. Losing a parent or someone close to you is so difficult at the best of times but seems to be much more painful at this time of year and in the current circumstances.
Great little story about your father. Time is a great healer, and I’m sure in time the fond memories of times with your father will outweigh the current pain.
Take care.
Condolences
Nice story for the memories.

almost tipped brancaster so and did mainly look at the newc card, the race he was 2nd in LTO, the 1st 3rd 4th and 5th and 6th all go again in the 1455. st just is 1lb better off with greengage for a neck, helix is 2lbs better for 1.5l, i didnt watch replay so hard to gauge, but given the tightness of it all, would definitely suggest sticking with EW, although for bargain bucket racing, greeny has history of putting good performances back to back. Gambling should be a hobby or past time and not a necessity.
One day you will find it within yourself to move on and if your heart is not in horse racing so be it, follow your heart, be nice to your loved ones and I hope you find solace in whichever path your life leads you on .
Take care bud and God bless ?
