KevMac steps up to the plate with his take on this weekends matches and his best bets in Scotland.
Ross County v Rangers
Ross County will be hoping to do the Old Firm double this weekend after dumping Celtic out of the Betfred Cup.
But it would be a massive shock if they inflicted Rangers’ first defeat of the season in Dingwall tomorrow and they are 14/1 rank outsiders with McBookie for another victory.
It looked like Steven Gerrard’s men would see their unbeaten run end on Thursday when they twice fell behind to Standard Liege in the Europa League at Ibrox.
But they turned it around to win 3-2 and cement their place in the knockout stage with a game to go.
Winning the Premiership is their top priority and momentum should steer them to another three points when they take on the Staggies.
Gers have won the last four meetings without conceding so a win to nil here seems a good shout at 10/11 with McBookie. But they haven’t scored more than two goals in their last three clashes with County so I’m going for under 2.5 Rangers strikes at evens (Bet365).
Celtic v St Johnstone
Celtic followed up their Staggies humbling by throwing away a 2-0 lead to crash 4-2 at AC Milan.
They looked better going forward but were shambolic at the back yet again so St Johnstone will fancy their chances of scoring at Parkhead in their clash tomorrow.
Both teams to score is 21/20 at McBookie and I also like the look of over 3.5 match goals at 17/10.
Neil Lennon’s switch to a 3-5-2 system backfired last weekend so Celtic should revert to a 4-3-3 here.
That will probably see Mohamed Elyounoussi come back in and he’s a tempting 49/20 for anytime scorer at 888Sport.
St Mirren v Aberdeen
Aberdeen also crashed out of the cup last weekend but get the chance for instant revenge when they face St Mirren today. I fancied that cup tie to be level at 90 minutes, which would have come up if Joe Lewis hadn’t thrown one in.
Another stalemate here appeals at 12/5 with Bet365 while under 2.5 goals should come up but isn’t great value at 8/13 with McBookie.
Motherwell v Hibernian
A draw could also be on the cards when Motherwell host Hibs as their last two meetings have ended in 0-0s, with Well having a winner chalked off at Easter Road in August.
The stalemate pays 23/10 with McBookie who also price a card for no-nonsense Hibees defender Ryan Porteous at a decent 5/4.
Livingston v Dundee Utd
Livingston smashed four past Ayr in the cup last week and could get more joy against a Dundee United side without nine players.
Over 1.5 goals Livi looks the shout and it’s 10/11 at McBookie.
Hamilton v Kilmarnock
Hamilton ended their horror run with a point against Aberdeen and now host Kilmarnock in El Plastico. Killie have been going well so I fancy them at 17/20 with McBookie to rack up a win.
Morton v Hearts
In the Championship Hearts have wobbled of late after a storming start to the season and head to Greenock today in need of a win.
The Jambos followed up their first loss at Dunfermline by crashing out of the Betfred Cup away to Alloa.
The league remains their priority and Hearts should see of Morton and justify their status as 2/5 favourites with McBookie.
Ton conceded twice at home to Queen of the South and Ayr earlier in the season so I fancy over 3.5 goals at 8/5 with McBookie.
Steven Naismith should start after coming off the bench against Alloa and is evens with McBookie for a goal.
Raith Rovers v Dunfermline
The Fife derby between high fliers Raith and Dunfermline should be a cracker and I fancy both teams to score at 8/13 even though that hasn’t come up in their last seven meetings.
League One
It’s tight at the League One summit and each team in the top four should win their games. An accumulator on Falkirk, Cove, Airdrie and Partick pays 55/10 at McBookie.
League Two
Queen’s Park’s incredible run of clean sheets came to an end last weekend but they still won 3-1 against Stenhousemuir to stay top.
They travel to Cowdenbeath today so backing another win to nil could pay off at 7/5 with McBookie.
It looks like being a long season for Albion Rovers and Brechin. They are both on the road this week so back Edinburgh City to beat Rovers and Stenny to defeat Brechin in a double that pays 71/100 at McBookie.
