Defences were on top as Man United and Chelsea played out an almost unwatchable 0-0 draw at Old Trafford last night, however, I would be very surprised if we get another snoozefest on the South coast on Sunday.

Southampton vs Everton (Sunday, 14:00)

High-flying Everton will be looking to continue their impressive start to the season when they travel to St Mary's to square off with Southampton.

Carlo Ancelotti's influence, coupled with some shrewd Summer signings, has generated a monumental mood swing at Goodison Park and the Toffees sit top of the table after five rounds of fixtures.

Indeed, early-pace setters Everton's perfect start came to an end last weekend, however, the Blues performed well when battling back to earn a 2-2 draw against fierce rivals Liverpool.

Southampton, meanwhile, go into this clash after snatching a late equaliser during a thrilling 3-3 away at Chelsea, which came after back-to-back wins over Burnley and West Brom.

With both teams heading into this South coast showdown scoring freely, an action-packed encounter is anticipated at St Mary's on Sunday afternoon.

History shows that goals tend to flow in this fixture – each of the last six fixtures finished with both teams scoring, however, a repeat this weekend looks slightly skinny at 8/13 with Bet 365.

Therefore, I'm going to opt an alternative angle by making use of Bet 365's Bet Builder by combining over one match goal and each team to collect at least one card at 20/23 with Bet 365.

Southampton have scored two or more goals in each of their last three league matches in their own manor, while the Toffees have conceded two or more goals in three of their last four top-flight tussles.

What's more, each of Everton's last four league games have produced over 2.5 goals and with that in mind I'm more to back two or more match goals to be scored at St Mary's.

I'm also happy to back both teams to collect at least one card during what should be an open and entertaining encounter, not to mention the above-mentioned combination has clicked in three of Everton's last four outings.
