Sheffield United vs Arsenal

, KO: 13:00 Jun 28, 2020, Bramall Lane
Arsenal

ARSENAL got back to winning ways in the Premier League in midweek and will be hoping momentum can help carry them past Sheffield United and into the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

After defeats to Manchester City and Brighton, the Gunners needed a win at Southampton to stop their season from falling apart. Mikel Arteta's side duly delivered, although not without a late scare before youngster Joe Willock sealed a 2-0 win.

That put Arsenal back in contention for European qualification but they can now switch focus to delivering another FA Cup, a trophy Arsene Wenger lifted an astonishing seven times during his long reign.

Sheffield United sit a point above the Gunners after a storming start to their first season back in the Premier League but Chris Wilder's men have been in awful form since coming out of cold storage.

After being denied a win at Aston Villa by failed goal-line technology, the Blades have suffered successive 3-0 defeats to Newcastle and Manchester United.

I tipped the Red Devils to win without conceding in midweek and that came up, with Wilder's side again lacking a cutting edge up front.

The Blades boss spoke after the game about his fears of the season “fizzling out” and they will need to rediscover their spark to keep their FA Cup dreams alive

How the bookies view it

I'm surprised to see Arsenal as big as 6/4 with Unibet, given Sheffield United's poor form in the last three games. That looks great value while the draw is 68/29 with VBet and a Blades win 23/11 with the same firm.

Recent head to head

Sheffield United have edged the Premier League meetings between these sides this season, drawing 1-1 at the Emirates after a 1-0 victory at Bramall Lane (below).

But Arsenal comfortably won three of the four games before that, including a 6-0 victory at the Emirates. Their last FA Cup meeting went all the way to penalties in 2005, the Gunners eventually going through after a 1-1 draw at home then a 0-0 stalemate at Bramall Lane. If you think this one will end in a shootout as well it pays 6/1 at Skybet.

Players to watch

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has gone four games without a goal and is too good a player for that barren run to continue much longer. The Arsenal talisman (below) is 11/8 with Betfred for anytime scorer and that is well worth a few quid.

Billy Sharp was left on the bench for Sheffield United at Old Trafford but could get the nod here after another poor showing from Wilder's other frontmen. He remains the Blades' most natural finisher and is 11/5 with 888Sport for a goal here.

Anything else catch the eye?

Arsenal still look far from convincing at the back so this could be the game where Sheffield United end their drought. Both teams to score is 4/5 with Bet365 and if you double it with a Gunners win it pays 4/1 with the same firm.

I'd expect Arsenal to have most possession and be on the front foot so try backing them to win the most corners at 7/5 with 888Sport.
