Alan Thomson was on the mark with Mistress Nellie (5-2) yesterday and he has a sole selection at today's Newcastle meeting.
LOPES DANCER (4.05) can further enhance his excellent Newcastle record by landing the opening 1m 4f handicap.
Brian Ellison pulled him out of a prior engagement five days ago and a reproduction of his run over course and distance in September when accounting for Asian Angel gives Lopes Dancer every chance.
Sulafaat finished fifth here last week when failing to quicken under pressure after holding every chance but is another with fine course form. Remember The Days was installed favourite last night but the dark horse is Superyacht, formerly with Sir Michael Stoute and now having his initial start for David O'Meara after spending three years on the sidelines.
LEICESTER has been abandoned as the course is frozen in places.

Elvis, very interesting article in The Sporting Life regarding If The Cap Fits. H Fry quoted, I am ready to test his credentials with a shot against Paisley Park in the Cleeve Hurdle.
The trainer won the Grade 2 Hurdle with Uknowhatimeanharry, and very happy with The Cap chances after a small setback following his Ascot win in the Coral Hurdle. Fry also quoted, it’s exciting going into the weekend with a live chance in a big race, it’s what it’s all about. We’ll see where we stand against the reigning champ Paisley anyway.
Fry’s stayer has put his best foot forward on a sound surface and the Dorset handle reckons there could be more in the tank. He added, ‘it took him a little longer to get over the Ascot win and that’s why he wasn’t seen over the Xmas Period.’ It’s his first run at HQ so there’s lots for us and him to learn. the experience will do him the world of good, and hopefully a return in March confirmed after Saturday.
‘We’ve always avoided testing ground with him so I’m pleased to see a dry forecast before Saturday. But he’s proven he goes on it when we won at Ascot. We just think he’s slightly better on a better surface but good horses have to win on all surfaces and he’s shown that now.
‘This has proven to be a great prep for the Stayers Hurdle down the years and hopefully the dream will still be alive come Saturday’.
Current Odds Paisley 4/6 Cap Fits 7/2 Apple Jade 5/1 LAmi Serge 10/1.
Miss Harriett 2-00 Exeter 20-1 Ew extra 8 places.
Coops
Should be a cracking race Saturday.
I’m on at 8-1 for Cheltenham, will be lower if he gives paisley a decent race this weekend.
shot elvis finished 8th, nice pick and price 20’s.
Cheers coops.
Good market this especially when as you say the quality of racing not the best 🙁
In the 1715, George Rooke got a winner recently and his horse was a close 2nd lto, his claim will help and at 5/4 top 2, it’s worth a look without having examined any rivals. 5 mins before the off so not part of my staked tips.
I’m almost hesitant to back Hollie Doyle mounts as it’s becoming so obvious. 1-1 already tonight she had 3 winners and 2 seconds from 5 yesterday. She doesn’t ride for this trainer really and it may be a tad too competitive but on paper, the horse looks set to go close if fired up.
She is on Portledge 7/2 in the 1815 and in a tricky race. The horse may be a bit high in the weights racing off 84 but is one of the most consistent 7f runners this track has seen. Form figures of 31213111 with his highest win off 81. He was 3rd lto in a C3 and drops back into C4. The trainer isn’t sending out winners and it does put me off the win bet and sadly the place market is poor. The horse returns from a 6 month break and has won fto before.
Graham Lee is a man I like to follow his horse Northempowerhouse 11/4 beat market rival ASDAA 13/8 by 1.25l lto and will once again be 3lbs lower. 0.75l behind Asdaa was FORTAMOUR 9/2 who now has a 6lbs swing and despite the jockey not having any recent wins for the trainer, his first horse was just a neck 2nd and could go close.
hassad in the 1715 altho 5 mins before off.. looks a big lay, even ORIENTAL LILLY is weighted to overturn a narrow defeat and he’s 6/1.
my bad on PORTLEDGE place market also, top 2 at evens is good for me considering there are only 2 dangers on paper
regarding FORTAMOUR, andrew mullen rides winners for haslam, is at the track but now on board, so perhaps a swerve despite weight pull.
one of my posts warped into an older post, regarding FORTAMOUR, a mullen wins a lot for haslam, has rides at the track tonight and isn’t on board, which in a compeitive race, is enough to overlook despite a 6lb pull.
finally jimmy sullivan is a decent jockey and him and ruth carr are a decent combo to be aware of. they have two, BOBBY JOE LEG, on a long losing streak but has won at the track and gone close, he is now rated 50, he was as high as 70 a year ago and despite his best form being over 1f fewer, may be of interest at throwaway stakes, 5/6 4 places, 6/1 2nd fav means EW is probably more sensible.
GUNMAKER is probably a better choice in the last, he was a neck/nost 3rd lto over CD and given it was 5 days ago, it looks as if the goal is to win, in April last year over CD he was 2nd off 67, beating lucky lodge who just won, he will be racing off 52 again.
database, I just got a text from a mate saying get on Portledge, he’s usually pretty good with his info, I repeat usually , so I’ll be giving it a few bucks
race fitness wasnt on his side it seems, right to ignore the fav though 6lb was decisive.
Rockly point late shout ☘️👍
Well that’s 2 us went with it, and a very good result finishing 3rd. 14/1 7 paces BET365 and 25/1 4 places SKYBET. Do me that, I will able to pay my rent this week.
