Wolverhampton 12.45

WAILEA NIGHTS (12.45) sprung a 16-1 surprise at Wolverhampton 13 days ago and doesn't appear harshly treated on a follow-up mission at Lingfield.

The handicapper raised Marco Botti's filly 7lb but Stefano Church's claim negates that rise. Wailea Nights came wide and late to score at Dunstall Park and hopefully she will get a good gallop to attack off the home bend.

On a line through Richard R H B my selection holds Bendy Spirit and Danny Ocean which leaves Hugo Palmer's Kingman filly Depose as the most likely danger.

Chelmsford 6.30

SAMPHIRE COAST (6.30) has scored six times at Chelmsford City and has decent prospects of making it a Magnificent 7 in the mile handicap.

Derek Shaw's gelding made a rare trip to Southwell before Christmas and he did well to take fourth spot after a slow break. This is a tight affair but Samphire Coast is trading at tempting odds.

Ayr 2.10

AIN’T MY FAULT (2.10) has finished runner-up on his last four attempts but is strongly fancied to end that frustrating sequence at Ayr.

Lucinda Russell has found her gelding the ideal opportunity, with four rivals in opposition. Ain’t My Fault loves to bowl along and was nabbed only in the dying strides by Ubaltique at Kelso in November.

Third horse Charlie Snow Angel, beaten 19 lengths, has won his next two races.

Ain’t My Fault adopted his usual aggressive tactics at Wetherby last month but had no answer when Nuts Well swept past.

The winner won well at Musselburgh yesterday off a 140 rating, so Ain’t My Fault remains well treated on a mark of 117.

Ayr 2.50

The 2m 5f handicap hurdle is a much more competitive contest, with Warren Greatrex stripping useful Portrush Ted off a 519-day absence. The gelding was last seen scoring by 17 lengths in a Perth novices’ hurdle and his smart bumper form entitles him to respect.

TAXMEIFYOUCAN (2.40) should have no trouble staying this trip on deep ground, having scored over 3m 1f at Carlisle last month. A 3lb rise is very fair and Keith Dalgleish’s six-year-old had earlier run an honest fourth to Justatenner at Ayr over three miles.

Better Getaway mopped up a novices’ hurdle at this fixture two years ago and has been dropped 2lb on the back of his recent fourth to Newtown Boy at Haydock. He will also handle conditions.
