SHOOT FOR GOLD (4.00) is a very interesting Godolphin runner at Ayr as he returns from a 322-day absence.
Saeed Bin Suroor has been waiting for some rain for his son of Sea The Stars, last spotted running sixth in a Group 1 contest at Saint-Cloud. Two places in front that day was Aidan O’Brien’s classy Norway, so the fact that Shoot For Gold races off a handicap rating of 94 makes him potentially chucked in. Before his trip to France, Shoot For Gold had romped home by seven lengths in a Novice Stakes at Windsor (soft) and the colt remains unexposed.
He takes on some seasoned handicappers at the top of their game. Borodin won well at Ripon for Richard Fahey and enjoys an easy surface, while Nicholas T is penalised 4lb for last Monday’s course success. Ayutthaya split Great Example and Sod’s Law at Nottingham and is another capable of winning if Shoot For Gold underperforms.
FOREWARNING (3.00) is a dour stayer and looks tailor-made for the 2m 1f handicap. Julia Brooke and Graham Lee teamed up to land a gamble with True Romance at Musselburgh last week and Forewarning shaped with considerable promise on his first start for Brooke at Pontefract when failing by a neck to catch Becky The Thatcher over 2m 2f on that stiff circuit. Consistent Champarisi was well held in third and is a useful yardstick in these staying events.
Sir Mark Prescott’s progressive three-year-olds are always to be feared and Land Of Oz is up 6lb for his Yarmouth victory 19 days ago. Again, the ground was quick that day and the horse he beat, Australis, was a well beaten fourth at Salisbury on Saturday evening. Nevertheless, Land Of Oz has to be feared at the bottom of the weights.
Lord Lamington, a dual winner on the all-weather, also scored at Sandown when the track was riding slick. Softer ground might be his undoing but there is plenty of form in the book to give him a big chance.
BOSTON GEORGE (3.30) is given the opportunity to redeem himself after flopping here a fortnight ago. He looked ill at ease throughout on the firm ground and it was good to soft when he posted a fine second to the William Haggas-trained Destination at Wetherby earlier in the year.
Roger Fell’s Presidential rates a big danger. He ruined his chance at the start when well-touted at Doncaster nine days ago, eventually running on into fifth behind Kaeso. That form is working out very well. He also saddles Zylan but Mick Easterby’s Thirsk winner Luzum is of more interest after a fine fourth to Penwortham at Chester last time.
HOUSE DEPOSIT (2.30) makes some appeal in the Class 6 handicap over six furlongs. He won at Redcar on soft last October when trained by Declan Carroll and shaped with promise on his first start for Roger Fell when fourth in a Class 4 contest at Doncaster. The ground was on the fast side, so this slower surface will suit.
Forever A Lady drops to six furlongs for the first time in almost two years and has been running well in defeat for Keith Dalgleish. She should be involved once again.
Alan has got it wrong, this horse hasn’t been since for 275 days, not 322. He is obviously potentially the class horse of the race and could well blitz it, but the price is far too short. Besides the absence, there are far too many in form rivals who will all hold sound claims.
Don’t get me wrong, I am much more at home in handicaps, and claim to have little knowledge of top class racing and Alan will have forgot more about racing than I ‘ve learnt. But still, it is worth being cautious for me. He mentions Norway was 2 places ahead of SFG. 2 places sounds good but he was 6 lengths behind. Yes Norway has been racing in races much better than the Class 3 SFG is in today, but he hasn’t won anything, and is only rated 104, SFG’s 94 doesn’t look overly lenient. Ahead of Norway that day was a horse rated 97 this horse hasn’t raced since but his Salisbury form isn’t worth wasting any ink over. Ahead of all of these was Sydney Opera House, his only start since was a 17 length 4th, but again granted, in a Class 1.
Next, this race is only worth 10k. SFG holds 3 entries besides this, two for 100k and the St Leger for 400k. I am not sure he will be racing in the upcoming GG h’cap but if that’s the plan, why would connections ruin his current mark by wining here with a 100k h’cap a week away?? Perhaps he needs to win a race to actually be put into the York/Doncaster races but if he doesn’t, ruining his mark for this small race isn’t logical.
Finally, as mentioned, many rivals are well capable of wining this race, Borodin, Nicholas T and Ayyuthaya all of whom Alan has mentioned have chances. My money will be on JACKAMUNDO who he didn’t even mention. He will have the most to prove but does carry bottom weight, he is raised another 6lbs and also has never been in a Class 3. I don’t envisage him winning 3 in a row so i’ll only be on in the place market but the fact Alan didn’t even mention this horse shows just how competitive it may be and I think a top 3 finish for will be well possible and the price will probably be similar to SFG’s win odds.
BOL. Only commenting because so far this was the only race I had looked at.
Pointers: 4.30 ayr royal shaheen
Won this race last year- off a 5lb higher mark.
Has good course form- has won a couple of races at the course and also been placed in a few at this course.
All 4 of his career wins have been between july and september- this is his time of year.
Trainer knows how to send out big priced winners.
Trainer has been amongst the winners of late.
Jockey has been amongst the winners.
Wears a visor for the FIRST time which really caught my eye.
Odds have shortened to 20/1 from 40/1.
No doubt recent form has not been good but has duly tumbled down the handicapp and with the pointers stated above we could see an improved performance.
ii will leave it up to you all tolook more in depth as i havn’t looked into all of the other runners, i just wanted to give my two pennies worth.
nice spot that, he also has the word ROYAL in his name, which for me boosts his chances by at least 8%.
another huge outsider is Street Parade in the 19:50 windsor. the big thing is the extra furlong which will probably be his undoing, however he is from the stuart williams yard carrying colours who elvis tipped up last time, as have many others. he is getting marco giani’s 7lb claim which puts him 1lb below his last win and 7lbs below his recent 2nd… if this was over 5f i think i would be all over it, although i doubt he would be 20/1 … he is one to monitor in the betting i suppose. the trainer has 4 in the race :O
excellent logic btw :D
Data. Re 7-50 Windsor.
The horse you mentioned I tipped on Saturday runs in this (shamshon), Williams got 3 or 4 in this race.
It’s got extra to carry otherwise I would be on again at the odds.
Of his 4 runners I think Crowley may be the senior and he has chosen royal birth.
Stick a pin in job maybe…
This race and the 7-40 Galway are both Saturday type big handicaps with big dosh in prize money.
Harry fry sends his only runner today in that race (litterale ci) who ran ok in withhold’s big win at Newbury 10 days ago.
He has won hurdles so should stay and won on flat before.
Mullins got 4 in the race, Baba boom won at this meeting last year but not ran since.
See what you make of it database.
Litterale ci 33-1 Ew (5 places) or just 7-2 top 5 for me.
Embour 8-1 Ew or (6-5) top 4 in the 7-50 Windsor.
Ps.
Fancy a harry fry horse on Wednesday at Galway if it runs, ena baie in the 6-10.
Been waiting for this to run after impressing last time and the fact it’s being sent here (hopefully) means they expect a big run.
Goodnight zzzzzzzzzzz
Some interesting pointers from yourself as ever database, i do enjoy reading your thoughts or anyone else’s for that matter.
I think if everyone who used this message board to put up their picks gave some kind of reasoning it would be helpfull to us all.
I appreciate some will have limited time but you can sum it up just by for example saying ” CD winner/ likes it soft/ well handicapped” etc etc.
For me to follow someone else’s selection with no reasoning is madness.
This message board could really take off if this was done by all, and i am sure we would all end up with fatter wallets.
Just a quick mention about the horse i talked up, if it runs poorly again today do not give up on it. It will drop again in the weights and for all we know the connections know exactly what they are doing.
It makes me wonder what have they been doing with it in the last 6 weeks since it last ran….Good luck to one and all.

Question of faith 20/1 ew 3-00 Ayr
authorize art 5-20 galway 5/4
endowed 6-05 windsor 11/8
ourmullion 4-15 new abb 2/1
two for the big handicap at galway
reason for backing two in the one race is because its tony gangster martin im talking about .he have won 17 races at the festival so far and 14 0f them were in handicaps,
newcross 12/1 unlucky at the festival last year just could not get the horse out in time did well to finish 2nd nap/nb
mr everest 8/1
Those odds were from last night. If you fancy its chances today maybe waiting till nearer race time as the bookmakers may push it out a bit so you could get on at better odds then they may snip it back in right on the off.
Good afternoon all

Well in here off 94, risks attached. May need the run but I’ve got him rated in the 101 brackets , (personal rating) so should have more than enough here . Good luck all 👍
Yh defo needed the run there seemed leg less in the finish. Not 1 to give up on though .
Well done with the winner 👍
Ohh
Having seen all the arcing there today looks very tacky and bias towards soft / heavy ground horses
Incorrect in your statement again. Think you have the wrong person? Please bring facts before you accuse . Very distasteful!
I’ve been a good tipster for people on here. I neither force nor imply that you have to take my selections.
If it is a case of just disliking me. Then, each to their own . Feel free to follow another :) 👍 best of luck to you 🍻
If you believe that then fine. I can’t change your mind .
I just like to inform you. I’ve given people multiple winners from all over the world from prices ranging from evs to 100/1 including jumps, and sprints . Ended last year with +179.2 after 6 months.
Suggest you look through the archives on here if you have a problem with my selection timing I assure you I’ve never miss lead anyone.
Would not matter if mr f decides to delete I have nothing to hide.
I can simply not post if preferred.
I have no need for mr f. I’m sure he’s busy enough without having to deal with people who have no decorum.
Just ignore him. Admin will block him.
Think Alan t has got it sussed mr f . Stay quiet and let the kids play haha!
It’s the sole reason he doesn’t comment.
Would be good if he did but I totally understand why he doesn’t.
Im on it with you Unc but big drift ( was 13/8 this morning now 7/2 ) a worry.
Nicholas T at 9/1 for 5 places with Bet365 looks very appealing too

Nice pair of wins mate 🏇🏇,
Just found Ew extra on bet365.
Thanks for whoever mentioned it earlier.
Had to top up my bet tonight 7-40 Galway.
Litterale ci 16-1 Ew 9 places on top of 33-1 Ew 5 places placed earlier
Brilliant concession Elvis
It has got me out of trouble many times especially when they offer 5 places on 9 runners and only concede 3 points from 12/1 to 9/1
Be lucky
Uncle pom, please do not let those clowns get to you.
There are scores of people on here who respect you and appreciate your input.
So much rubbish comes out of idiots with keyboards and internet access, must make them feel important.
Had to top up my bet tonight 7-40 Galway.
Litterale ci 16-1 Ew 9 places on top of 33-1 Ew 5 places placed earlier.
Finished 3rd 😁🏇
Lovely pick Elvis 👍
Cheers pops…..
