THERE are two games that catch my eye on what is a pretty skinny card but I'm hoping to fatten up the level of interest with a double helping of goals!

KR v Fylkir (8pm)

First up is a slice of Reykjavik Cup action featuring a KR side who were quietly impressive in last year's Urvalsdeild taking on a Fylkir outfit who they drew 2-2 with just 2 weeks ago.

Goals, goals, goals

Both sides have been in the goals during their recent games with the hosts last 9 seeing 8-4-4-4-5-2-3-4-4-5 match goals and Fylkir's own last 9 featuring 3-3-4-7-7-2-3-3-4 … not too shabby at all and that gives a total of 79 in a combined 18-match spell and a healthy looking average of 4.4 goals per game!

H2H-wise the last 3 have seen both sides netting in games that ended 2-2, 1-1 and 2-5 and I suspect tonight could be another lively encounter in Reykjavik's indoor Egilshöll centre.

Game of two halves

I've highlighted late goals in Icelandic football countless times before and on a selfish note, it's tough to see the prices have become much less competitive but I guess that's the nature of the beast and they can still offer value on frequent occasions!

I was very tempted with KR team goals and really rate them at the moment but my gut is telling me to focus on the goal/half markets so that's where my money is going.

Aveley v Romford

Aveley could steal a temporary shared top spot with 3 points here and I reckon that's exactly what they will get as they host a rock-bottom Romford with a goal difference of minus seven.

Away form could be a factor

In fact Aveley's +17 puts them 44 ahead on goals and it's easy to see why with Romford's rotten away form – 2-4-4-2-4-1-2-2-2 goals conceded on the road – doesn't look great and offers a pretty accurate insight into the Essex outfit's dire straits.

Aveley's early-season form has stalled a little of late but this game represents the perfect opportunity to re-find their shooting boots – something they have utilised in the last 3 home H2Hs where they hit 5-3-4 team goals!

Recommended Bet

  • Over 3 match goals (10-11, bet365) – 3pts
