THE best of the action on Sunday is at Cheltenham and Thommo picks out his four best bets for the day.

3.00 Cheltenham

THE Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham is a crackerjack, with in-form Verdana Blue installed the early favourite on the back of two recent impressive victories.

She has a big weight to carry and is much worse off with Old Guard on their Kempton running in October. Old Guard won this in 2015 and finished third last year, but two miles looks on the sharp side these days.

STORM RISING (3.00) catches the eye further down the weights. He has won both his starts for Dr Richard Newland since his switch from Denis Hogan in Ireland. Storm Rising dotted up over course and distance on his seasonal return and followed up with little fuss at Wetherby (runner-up Cornborough won yesterday).

Although a stone higher now, Charlie Hammond takes off 5lb and Storm Rising prefers good ground. There is any number of dangers but with most firms offering generous each-way terms I’ll be very disappointed if Storm Rising isn’t involved in the finish.

1.50 Cheltenham

CLAIMANTAKINFORGAN (1.50) will be hard to beat in the Arkle Trophy Trial. Nicky Henderson’s gelding made a satisfactory debut over fences when accounting for Chesterfield at Uttoxeter. He jumped well and probably would have scored a bit more decisively but for stumbling two out.

2.25 Cheltenham

SCEAU ROYAL (2.25) can reward favourite backers in the Grade 2 Chase. Alan King’s gelding, a smart hurdler on his day, made a brilliant transition to fences last season, winning four of his five starts (beaten in photo on the other occasion). He had Brain Power in his pocket when Nicky Henderson’s horse unseated rider at Sandown last December and can confirm that form.

Le Prezien, winner of the Grand Annual at the Festival in March, has plenty of solid chase form and made a fine reappearance at Ffos Las when second to Silver Streak in the Welsh Champion Hurdle.

3.30 Cheltenham

SEDDON (3.30) looked smart when making a winning bumper debut at Musselburgh and has since landed a hurdle event at Stratford. Tom George’s gelding remains unexposed and seems to prefer a sound surface.

My most recent investment Mt Leinster runs today who we fully expect to win, we have maximum confidence in him today, we believe he has learnt alot from his debut run and come on a great deal, the going will be perfect and track ideal, he is more than ready for today.
We will be aiming to go to Cheltenham, with Willie even saying he is probly his best chance in the bumber.
I know we were 11/10 second favourites last night with the Cheveley Park owned runner at 8/11-i havnt checked this morning but i would guess we will be favourites now as i know of a few 5 figure sums bet on him over night, not my money as i dont bet on my own.
I would advise people to get money down before the race for Cheltenham also, i think 20/1 is still there, which will disapeer after we win today.
He will probly be put away until the big one in march after today so this will be the last chance to see him until then.

    Dan.

      Even money is still available.
I am advising 10 point max bet win.

16/1 for bumper but 20/1 to win any race in sky bet!

Malone road is the one tipped up every where for that race mr humble. I backed it last night in a double on the football with the team winning. I just though it so rare to see chevly park having NH flat runner so thouhgt it looked a winner i took 7-10 on it. I surely have to cash out now? Its for almost £800.
Does any of the other tipsters have thouhgts on this race please was so confident going to bed last night but now wake up to see mr humbles tip. Uncle pom please help!

i would cash out, just in case mr tumble is right, has been known to post odds on losers, but worth the benefit of the doubt this time, 20 tipsters all putting up the cheveley park horse means next to nothing for me FWIW.

I was at Down Royal when Malone Road went up another gear in the last furlong and was very impressed, good luck.

Morning All . Well done yesterdays winners. Christmas paid for yesterday myself with 3 from 3 at Cheltenham 16/1 4/1 and 3/1. Pity about the one at Uttoxeter losing but a great day.

gl alan, on after your nice tip yday.

    • cobretti 6 years ago

That looked a bad fall from Deans Road, hope it’s ok.

yeah, was obviously not going to win, even before the off we knew that.. going out to 10/1 … makes you question whether jockeys should be more responsible.. it wouldnt be good for punters, seeing their backed horse pulled up based on the jockeys judgement of whether he can win.. but that would be a lot more ideal for the horses.. why force him over 3 more fences when his race is run

Sorry that was a poor tip someone sent me that on the phone apologies

  15. u2me413 6 years ago

Two top horses running today, what was your thoughts on the race mr humble. Obviously the cheltenham hill could be a leveller come the big race in march. You must have been impressed by malone road. Willie always has them ready tho for the big race proceedings in march so do t lose faith.
