FRENCH LIGUE 2 action tonight and I have picked out a goals double I like the look of and also have a goals bet from the Sheffield derby.

Auxerre v Niort (7pm)

One of the shock results of the season last week as Auxerre, a side sitting in the relegation places and who lost there last 4 away matches travelled to table-topping Metz and left with all 3 points with a hard-fought 1-0 win.

It was a great result and may be the catalyst to get their season up and running.

Seven of their last 8 matches at home have seen over 1.5 goals and they welcome a Niort side who are 10 points better off and 11 places above them in the league

Niort are one of the league's form teams and will be looking the close the gap on leaders Metz.

Seven of the last 8 matches between the two sides have seen 2 or more goals and with Auxerre being boosted by last week's win and Niort in the hunt at the top of the league we should see both sides going for this.

Le Havre v Sochaux (7pm)

The hosts are a side who enjoy their home comforts having collected the majority of their points there.

They don’t lose many at home  just 3 defeats in 35 is great going) and with 13 of their last 14 matches seeing 2 or more goals I’m taking that to happen again tonight against an inconsistent Sochaux side who have only won one of their last 9 visits to Le Havre.

Recommended Bet

  • Back over 1.5 match goals double
  • 19/20 (Black Type) (NAP)

Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday (7.45pm)

It’s the Steel city derby from Brammall Lane tonight and I can’t recall seeing the away side priced as big as this.

It’s been a bit of a contrasting season for these two. United are right in the mix for automatic promotion and sit just one point behind leaders Leeds. They have goal machine Billy Sharp spearheading their attack, he already has 10 goals this season and will be a popular choice to score again tonight.

They’ve had a fantastic start and at home have been terrific with 5 wins and two draws after an opening-day defeat to Swansea.

Wednesday are on a horror run. After a god start they have now lost 4 on the spin, leaking goals and also struggling to find the net.

Last week's 4-0 home hammering against Norwich was a shocker but as the old saying goes form goes out the window for derby matches.

There is an element of truth in that hence why I was really surprised to see Wednesday priced as big as 6/1

Being so big opens the door to handicap betting and double chance at decent prices (+2 is 4/6 which I think is good value). I’m going to focus on goals though.

United are rightly favourites for this but don’t write off Wednesday who’ll be looking to to stop the rot.

I think Sheff Wed will score and there is value in the goal time market. They have been struggling but still have quality in attack.

Recommended Bet

  • Sheffield Wednesday to score before 78 mins
  • 5/6 (Bet365)

Don’t forget the usual French Sky Bet specials (first-half goals and over 1.5 match goals – 25/1 & 14/1)
