AFTER a round of midweek fixtures which produced some eye-catching scorelines, the Bundesliga is starting to kick up a gear during Oktoberfest.
Sunday’s hosts Augsburg will have taken a lot of confidence from holding the defending champions Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw away at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening. The result came out of nowhere as Fuggerstadter have had an inauspicious start to their campaign.
The visitors however also enter the outing in high spirits following back-to-back wins over Wolfsburg and Schalke. This has helped to propel them into the top half of the league coming into Matchday 6.
Both teams do have a habit of being porous defensively with the two fixtures from last season producing a combined 8 goals. The obvious goal threat, certainly for the visitors, comes in the form of marksman Nils Petersen, whose little number of Germany caps still offers a sense of bafflement.
However, bearing in mind their midweek exploits against their Bavarian neighbours, Manuel Baum’s men should be good to merit a point.
