Werder Bremen v FC Nürnberg
Bundesliga, Kick-Off 2.30pm, Sunday 16th September, Live on BT Sport 2
FINALLY now that the international break is over we return to club affairs and Werder Bremen take on newly-promoted Nürnberg on Sunday afternoon having had a solid start of 4 points from a possible 6 at the beginning of this season.
Their last outing at Eintracht Frankfurt saw Die Grün-Weißen score a dramatic 2-1 win in the 96th minute which shows that this season they are already showing a lot of resilience.
Nürnberg got their first points on the board after holding Mainz to a 1-1 draw at home before the recent interlude. Last season’s second top scorer Mikael Ishak scored the Bavarians’ first goal since earning promotion back to the German top flight, in part making up for his missed penalty in their opening 1-0 defeat to Hertha Berlin.
Coach Michael Koellner is unlikely to make many changes on Sunday but Nürnberg-born Bayern Munich loanee Timothy Tillman, who was an unused substitute for a second consecutive match last time out, could make an appearance against Werder Bremen.
Goals will be at a premium in this encounter with Werder having the slightly better options in that department with the recruitment of Everton misfit Davy Klaasen and a Japanese forward Yuya Osako from relegated Köln, so this should give them the edge in proceedings.
