Think this will be a game too far for the Russians, they were still very fortunate to get through against a disjointed, managerless Spain. I thought Croatia did more than enough to beat a tough Denmark, did everything except score, so putting it down to an off night and they still managed through. This game has the hall marks of a cracker,we have a solid Brazil side (Not often you can say that) under manager Tite and an out and out attacking side of Belgium,to be fair though both these sides can attack well but Brazil have put the onus on defending well and this imo has a lot to do with big loss to Germany in the final a few years back.The problem Belgium have here is that they don’t have a world class striker and this will be the deciding factor in the game and thats why i fancy Brazil to win this game to nil,Lukaku up against Thiago Silva is a mismatch even with Lukaku’s strength Silva should be to good for him and mark him out of the game,Lukaku just doesn’t play well in big games never has and i see no reason why he will in this game.Brazil though whilst not lighting up the tournament (YET) they have been efficient in what they do winning games without conceding except against Switzerland of course but this is a game Brazil will relish as they are more than capable of exploiting Belgium’s weak defence.

Personally I think Belgium will score, and like the look of BTTS. Lukaku had an off day against Japan and whilst I agree he is often found wandering when facing the top clubs, I do think Belgium will test Brazil’s defence at some point over the 90+ mins.

Yeah I fancy Brazil to edge it too. Belgium been very leaky even in the games running up to the tournament, despite their big name defence. They do have enough creativity amongst their mids/forward though, and I don’t think Brazil’s defence has been tested properly up til now. I reckon 2-1 Brazil FT. Old Al – tomorrow , with Froomey free to go , this Tour should be a cracker ??
I love the race and will watch most of it between England’s progress in the footy. It’s hard to get away from team sky and Froome but to repeat my thoughts to Nathan earlier on in the week the cobbles have been his downfall in the past ( I know he will have practiced ) and Geraint Thomas ( I really do like him! ) is his wingman who is prone to crashing out, the crowd reaction (which he’s had before ) if you take the other variable in the race I think the price is way to low so looking for a bit of value. My initial thoughts are on Bardet and Nibili but your input will be appreciated.
Thomas won Critérium du Dauphiné and is very good form , if something goes wrong with Froome , he will go for yellow and has a good chance , depends on Sky team strategy , this year Le Tour start a week later then usually is important for Chris after his victory in Giro , an extra week of rest could be an important advantage.

Good point – Geraint Thomas @ 16/1 has every chance if he hangs around with Froome as Froome did with Wiggins.
The duel between Chris & Geraint could be in Thomas favor because in stage 9 will have part of Paris-Roubaix sectors and there could be crashes and general contenders surely will suffer and Froome could lose precious time and Thomas is an expert on cobbles
The cobbles and outside influences are my concern, Thomas will have to let Froome win because of team orders however if something happens, Geraint will be the to pick up the baton and could possibly get a podium place anyway. Looking forwards to the race, it should be interesting if nothing else.
