MASTER SINGER (2.20) seems a better horse on artificial surfaces and looks set to land the 1m 4f Betway Live Casino Handicap at Newcastle.
On his previous visit to the track Master Singer sauntered to a 16-length victory in a modest maiden in May. That came over 1m 2f but he scored over today’s trip at Wolverhampton, justifying favouritism wearing first-time blinkers. A 5lb rise seems fair enough.
Burcan was an expensive failure when turned over at evens in a Newcastle claimer last month but the form was made to look better when well-held third Fayez won at Lingfield on Tuesday.

Jim Goldie’s gelding has form over this longer distance and finished a running-on third to John Gosden’s Pouvoir Magique and Alexandrakollontai over a mile 13 days ago, with Waarif back in fifth. Testa Rossa is probably better suited to 10f than Allexandrakollontai and rates a decent each-way punt.
Keith Dalgleish’s Paddyplex hasn’t been seen since landing an Ayr maiden from Fiendish in May. The runner-up hasn’t shown much form in the interim and the betting market usually gives an accurate guide to the yard’s expectations.
Dalgleish also saddles top weight Corton Lad and his fifth to Sir Mark Prescott’s Pioneertown wasn’t a bad effort, with third horse Reshoun since scoring at Doncaster for Ian Williams.
At Wincanton, CANELO (2.35) can go one better for Alan King after filling the runner-up berth at Chepstow. The four-year-old looked sure to win when striking the front approaching the final flight, only to be collared close home.
Colin Tizzard saddles a danger in Storm Home, second at Wincanton when sent off a heavily-backed 5-4 favourite. This longer trip may suit him better.
