NOTHING much to get excited about on a typical Tuesday but I’ll throw a few quid each-way at BEST EXAMPLE (7.10) at Chelmsford City and THE STALKING MOON (3.15) at Beverley.
The case for Best Example is a pretty simple one as I’m prepared to take on short-priced favourite Send Up, now sporting first-time cheek-pieces. Sir Mark Prescott’s filly is up 5lb for landing a very moderate event at Brighton and while she has plenty of scope for improvement, Best Example has solid handicap form in the book.
Best Example chased home another Prescott improver in Wolfcatcherjack at Wolverhampton, with the front pair pulling eight lengths clear of the third. Wolfcatcherjack is superior to Send Up, so Best Example looks nailed on to go close at attractive odds. He has won at Chelmsford City, when trained by Godolphin, so the track isn’t a problem.
There is the suspicion that the handicapper has got to grips with The Stalking Moon but an improved performance can be expected if getting the forecast soft ground she craves. John Quinn’s filly ran out a comfortable winner at Musselburgh on an easy surface, building on an earlier success at Catterick on good to soft. Danny Tudhope takes over the reins from a fair enough draw.
