IT'S been a spectacular two days at The Open with some spectacular scoring in all kinds of weather.

Jordan Spieth has been the stand-out performer and managed to shoot under par as rain and wind battered the Southport track and that was some going.

The two-time Major champion is possibly the best putter in the world and when the blade is working he's hard to beat. Spieth, tipped by Ace pre-tournament, is now 6-4 favourite with bet365 and William Hill.

His lead is two over Matt Kuchar and there aren't many players under par. Spieth goes out with Kuchar today and I fancy him to outscore his more senior partner who has 80 top-10 finishes but no Major wins. Nice bank balance though.

I've put that up as my Super Single on the top tips and I've also picked out a treble.

Rory McIlroy has his mojo back after recovering from five over after six on Thursday to finish one under yesterday. He is second favourite on the outrights now at 7-1 with BetStars and should win his match against Gary Woodland.

Add former Scottish Open champion Alex Noren to beat unknown Kent Bulle who plays on the Web.com Tour and has done well just to make the cut.

Another player who impressed yesterday was Richie Ramsay. The Scot played an almost perfect par round and is a fine links player. He has to handle the pressure of being in the mix at a Major for the first time but is up against another surprise guy in Canada's Austin Connelly who is the world No.524.

Three out of four of my outright picks made the cut and all have a chance of placing – Hideki Matsuyama, Brook Koepka and Jon Rahm. My top-20 pick Xander Schauffele is also still alive.
