IT was close but no cigar for Johnb on Monday with two second places among his selections.

He’s now 23.93pts down for October and has a joint nap and NB lined up for Tuesday.

Johnb’s Tuesday Tips

Leicester 3:50
Maljaa 1-1 NAP/NB Bet365 William Hill

Wolverhampton 6:10
Kristjano 5-2 Bet365

Double
Maljaa & Kristjano 6-1 Bet365

Maljaa (NAP/NB)
Johnb says: “Straight to the point here as not a lot to say but this horse will win group races, no doubt about it. Up until his last three runs he was a good horse but since the blinkers were fitted he has gone to the next level and sometimes that’s all it takes to focus the horse on the job in hand.”

    Timeform comments:

Maljaa (5 out of 5 stars): Most consistent and done even better with the blinkers applied, winning big-field handicaps at Doncaster and Haydock (2). Comfortable scorer last time and 4-timer could beckon.
    Form: 322111
Race commentary: 5f. MALJAA looks better than a handicapper and could be on for the 4-timer. Rural Celebration and Kimberella are a couple of others to consider at likely bigger odds.

Kristjano (5 out of 5 stars): Promising sort. Good third of 11 in handicap at this course (12.2f, 5/4) 24 days ago, needing stronger gallop. Looks competitive on form.
    Form: 0943
Race commentary: 1m 5f 194y. KRISTJANO still looked a little rough around the edges when failing to land a gamble on last month’s handicap debut at this venue, so with improvement likely, is taken to get it right this time. All For The Best is an obvious danger, with Doctor Kehoe completing the shortlist in a race the 3-y-os can dominate.

    Hi all

I dont know if this is the right platform/forum to ask advice like this so apologies if not but id value your opinions.

I am considering trying something I havent before with my betting (horses and football) where mon to fri I try to increase my bank by 50% each day. If it fails I start again the next week. Im trying it at small stakes yesterday with a horse and football double and won.

With horses (which I admit I dont know a great deal about), it seems ones that are 1/3 or 1/4 more or less win most times. Is that fair to say?

If I start the week with £100 I estimate a winning week will return about £600.

Id be very interested to hear opinions.

    Thank you

    Morning all

Going for a couple of C&D winners today that are back on winnable marks.

5.20 leicester MINSTREL LAD 8/1 ew
Has only had the 2 runs at leicester winning a class 5 off 55 on gd/sft and his other run here was when 2nd in this race last year off a mark of 64 on heavy ground. Runs today off 62 and back on gd/sft so must come into the reckoning.

5.00 musselburgh SMALL JOHN 12/1 EW
Again has excellent course form having figures of 1 2 2 from 3 runs. His last win came at catterick 4 starts ago off a mark of 59. Is 3lbs higher today but odds of 12/1 look generous for the only C&D winner in the field

Thats my lot for today, Best of luck to all

    Linfieldaces
Its very difficult to get one winner in this game let alone 5 regardless of price and ultimately you will lose. Singles are the only way long term you will have a chance of making a profit. But if you are determined to go that route then you could try 20/80 which if one fails you still have 80% return if they place. But personally i would reduce the amount of horses and try look for better value.

  63. Bertie 2 years ago

Johnb tip The horse was to keen cost him the race

  64. Derek 2 years ago

Yes because anything is taken as shocking or over the top or abuse. It’s not . People follow cause they choose to do so but at £50 a point I’m being destroyed right now and frightened to stop because that’s when John will hit form again but just now is a nightmare. Getting hammered daily. I’ve no doubt he will come back to form but I’m hoping its sooner rather than later. Odds on shots getting tipped and beat comfortably

  65. Yovan 2 years ago

This is calling for immediate total break from betting on horses, for me. Maljaa cost me hundreds on three separate bets. Only football for me for a while.

  66. PeteT 2 years ago

Derek – I guess it depends on how long you’ve been following. If you’ve built a decent bank over the good times then hopefully you can sustain the rough with the smooth.

It’s definitely been a horrible 2 months (39.8 points loss for September and October so far) but we know that a good double can wipe that out in a flash.

No-one will be more aware of the tough recent form that John and he’ll hit form again shortly.

Anyway – we’ve still got the 6.10 to look forward to. Good luck everyone

  67. Jim burnside 2 years ago

It’s not happening lateley ano how yee feel jonb

  68. RJ 2 years ago

Derek – £50 a point, wow. Mines £1 and I still feel gutted when it loses. To afford that u must be earning over half a mil a year anyway so stop moaning!!

  69. Bertie 2 years ago

    Good call alanm !

  70. TheHawk 2 years ago

Was thinking the same RJ £50 a point on horses madhouse me thinks :)

  71. Jacksonator 2 years ago

That’s the problem with gambling. You know as soon as you stop he will go on a great run

  72. PeteT 2 years ago

£50 per point isn’t madness so long as you can afford to take the rough with smooth gents.

Ultimately it’s the same message whether it’s £5 per point or £100 per point. Bet what you can afford to lose.

If you managed to get John’s prices (which are genuine at the time of posting) you’ll make money over time.

Personally I run a bank of 100 points and I make a withdrawal at 120 points or more to take it back to 100 points again. John would have to lose at the same rate over the next 6 weeks as he has for the last 6 weeks for me to bust my bank. I don’t see that happening.

If you bet £50 per point this year you wouldn’t in the madhouse – you’d still have circa £5k of profit.

folks you should consider place only bets

i have had a good few big 60/1 for 6 80/1 etc to place etc and at the weekend i stuck 100 on a 12/1 place only acca

fair enough the odds are reduced but its a bit safer,id never bet 100 on an even money shot, i just dont feel its good value, id rather go for a 4/1 place only or something as its better value if it comes in, and id feel more confident getting 2 or 3 placed than i would finding one winner

if im going to lose 100 quid id raqther lose it trying to win m ore than 100 even if the odds are not in my favour

No matter how many pounds per point one bets, the worst thing to do is chase loses. Fear of not getting bets on in case the tipster has a winner is the road to ruin.
Take a break from betting, build the bank back up the same way as you did before betting. Only then come back and try again. We’ve all seen the adverts, As soon as the fun stops, stop.
I speak from a bad experience a few years ago, and I was convinced that the next bet would be the one that got me out of trouble. It didn’t.

  85. Barnsleylad 2 years ago

Last week I won £160 on football, first in a while. In the past I’d have been straight back to bookies having more bets. Instead I had a day out with wife using money really enjoyed it. If you win owt treat yourself not bookies.

    October 27.93 points down

Think Kristjano sums up the way things are going just now, absolutely cruising but with nowhere to go except backwards, he was a couple of lengths down when going well but the horses in front of him fell in a hole and by the time he got out he was about 10 lengths down but that was inside the last furlong
Again that’s why you need luck

As the commentator said the jockey had to sit and suffer just like his backers

  109. jules 2 years ago

  110. Yovan 2 years ago

Just to make it right Jonny0902 backed 12 horses (Arranmore Boy 4:50). 2 winners, 2 to go. Needs one more for profit.

100% to all comments above . £50 a point right now probably is madness but when it’s good it’s been good , it’s my choice and had it not been for having a good run on football id probably be eating cold beans just now. I jest of course but this run has ate a fair whack of what I had . Another week of this and I don’t think I can keep it up at that per point . But this has happened before I lower the stakes and he hits the double . Catch 22

    Timeform comments:

Raw Impulse (5 out of 5 stars): Built on debut promise when landing a soft-ground C&D maiden in May. Thereabouts in a trio of handicaps subsequently and, with the scope to do better still, he’s one to take seriously.
    Form: 61232
Race commentary: 1m 2f 50y. This looks competitive but RAW IMPULSE nevertheless stands out on account of his striking potential. Clive Cox’s charge was undone by the steady gallop at Salisbury last time, yet still acquitted himself with credit, and he could be seen in an altogether better light in what promises to be a strongly-run race. Aleator and Darshini rate the main dangers, while Esteaming is a live each-way player.

Milady (5 out of 5 stars): Promising type. Winner at Lingfield in August. Creditable second of 11 in handicap at Chelmsford (6f) 20 days ago. Up in trip. Type to carry on improving and likely to go close from handy draw.
    Form: 5152
Race commentary: 7f. MILADY looks another steady improver from the Roger Charlton stable and can go one better than last time with the step up to 7f likely to be in her favour. Cascading Stars’ latest course second has been boosted since and she should go well again, while Skinny Love has had a most productive campaign and has a good record on this surface.
