Mar 19: Johnb’s Racing Tips & Chat

MRF_RacingTips_Racebets

FANTASTIC. That’s the only word to describe Johnb’s form as he followed a Thursday double with a winning treble on Friday.

Our man’s March figures are stunning and after a 35.75pt profit for the day he’s now 196.5pts up for March and hoping the month never ends.

It’s also been a good Cheltenham for Johnb and Voice of Value and I thank them both for their insight and tips.

I was happy for Johnb to see Victoria Pendleton ride so well in the Foxhunters Chase because he’s defended her right to be there. For sure it was a publicity stunt but watching the race it was obvious the Olympic cycling champion had worked hard to get ready for her big challenge.

Anyway here’s what you’ve all been waiting for. And please remember this month next time Johnb goes through a bad patch.

Just got back from Cheltenham. Well today was a day that brought me to tears, seeing our Cue Card fall when looking so amazing and in our eyes, and we were sure it would’ve made a serious challenge or more to Don Cossack. All the work the team went through, and how fantastic Cue was. We are just so happy that the horse came out fine and dandy.

Anyway, well done all winners today if any, was a tough day. Will look at the card tomorrow.

theamazingfrankel, was looking like a winner to me but what do I know – I only managed 10 winners the whole week.
Had a great day there on Thursday and one year I’ll need to try to get there for 2 days rather than 1 as it always seems to be.

We will never know. The one thing I wanted was Cue to finish the race, so we could see if he had it in him. Was just too keen, and ran straight through the jump.

Well done tho Mr Fixit, great week for you. Shows you have a wide-range of knowledge in betting eh. Shame I wasn’t on Johns treble today.

theamazingfrankel, I have zero knowledge when it comes to horses.
All my winners, apart from maybe Yorkhill and Super Story, came from reading or hearing things and also looking at the markets.
The well-fancied favourites such as Thistlecrack, Douvan and Vautour – I just went along with the betting.
Limini I had doubts about but Peter Scudamore was in our box at one point not long before the race and said it couldn’t lose so was worth backing at 4-7.
His classic line was a short-price winner is better than a big-price loser and he was spot on.

Amazingfrankel, really respect your opinions and appreciate the inside word you post on the Tizzard horses as have defo made a few quid from them! Cue was travelling so strong for me yesterday but so much so that I think the jockey got a bit carried away and chose the wrong tricky fence to decide to take up the running so I don’t blame the horse. Felt he should have stayed in behin until home turn as woulda killed them for pace. Such a shame for the race that we didn’t see him do battle with Don up the finish, for me Cue would have won.

Just because Cheltenham is finished doesn’t mean Victoria Pendleton is, she is at Lawney Hills yard this morning riding out her first lot and next Sunday she is back riding at Kimble races.
Andy Stewart owner of Pasha Du Polder wants the two to race again, this time at Aintree over the national fences but Aintree rules means Victoria needs a couple more rides under rules to qualify so it looks doubtful this year.

For the people that thought it was just a publicity stunt that would end at Cheltenham then think again,
The goal was to take racing forward, to get more people following racing and that has been achieved, point to point courses have seen a vast increase in crowd numbers and that is set to continue, Victoria riding at Cheltenham will have increased viewing figures and hopefully got more people interested in racing, there were 19 extra news crews at Cheltenham and as Clare Balding said “racing should thank her for the extra interest”

Victoria has said herself that she can now take the time to improve her riding as all her learning so far has been done in such a short time,
She will be concentrating on point to points and riding out but we will see her in Foxhunters again including in my opinion Cheltenham next year and even Aintree but probably not till next year.

In racing some people love it for the horses, some for the betting and some for both like me,
Victoria Pendleton has fallen in love with the horses and racing and once again I congratulate her for what she has achieved and for what she has done for the sport

There are so many tippers here, and i am not complaining! I think though it’d be helpful if everyone keeps track and posts profit/loss for the month so we can get an idea of who to go with, either that or i will have to.make a tracker spreadsheet and that sounds exhausting.

Keep up the good work all.

Not so simple with the racing dude. A tipster for this page could wipe out a huge deficit in a single day. In the same breath could also go on a bad run at the drop of a hat. I started with jb’s tips and learned very quickly who I was going to give more attention to. Shouldn’t take to long. You can’t bet on them all as you know. Be cautious in your aproach and drop in every day. Within a week or 2 you will find yourself following a few if not more of the guys on here. There is lots of choice and it is a head scratcher. Jb and Alanm I’m sure most would agree should help you get going but there is loads of experience on the page and . To many to mention. Good luck. Watch the interactions and start filling your boots. You’ve found a real good page.

Ho John, or anybody else for that matter. After a few nice wins my betting balance has taken a nice increase and I wondered if anyone can recommend a safe staking plan to increase wining runs and help minimise losses on the losing one. I see people say have a 1pt bet or whatever but how many points would you say I need in my bank at all times. ? Or am I better betting a percentage of my bank each time I stake a bet. And should I have a cap on how many horses I’m backing in any one day? Sorry for all the questions just looking for some advice of more experienced punters. Much appreciated boys hope you had some winners today

    • Profile photo of gengar
      gengar 9 months ago

it doesnt really work that way sheldy best way to do it is 1% = 1pt so lets say betting bank on first of the month is £100 then your equal 1pt stake is £1 remember with horses you may go a couple weeks without a win but then one good day with a double/treble and you find yourself well in the profit.if you have the dicipline stick to a nap and nb and if there is good word then a nnb ive found this will soften losses but same time you wont make loads during the good spells but if the goal is long term profit stickto level stake according to ypur bank and has time goes buy incrase stake according to the betting bank then end of year withdraw profits im to impariwnt and prefer going for a daily yankee but one loss and half your bets are gone there is a lot of knowledge here johnb is an antepost master keep eye out heimo is also better on flat but i follow all year religiously alan m should change hes name to mystic meg follow him you wont go wrong bustop is a good one for jumps and boz for flats the amazingfrankel gets good info and e/w thief they way to go for e/w bets he always brings home a biggen everyone chips in thebz went on a great run latly best thing to do is read the tips have a look and decide for yourself i hope this helps ya in some way but yeah key to softening loses is dicipline and patients

Gengar and John thanks very much for taking the time to reply and also for tomorrow’s tips. I’ve been told by a few people to stake about 2% of my balance on a bet which is similar to what you said John but the 1% per point is a new one to me so I will bear that one in mind. Thanks for taking the time to recommend other people and how they have been doing with their bets. I saw that e/w theif had a big priced winner today but will look out for the other tipsters too. Only been using the site for a few days but already had some awesome winners so thanks to everyone who contributes to this thread. I’ll look out for mystic meg and good luck to everyone tomorrow lets have the bookies pants down!!

    • Profile photo of ooseven
      ooseven 9 months ago

Well the most basic way to think about it is 1pt = 1% which makes it easy to calculate. It’s all about what you want to split it into. Pick a number, say 100 or 50 bets (1% or 2%) and stick to that as then it’s less about actual money and more about points. I’m up £50 doesn’t mean anything to someone with a £10,000 bank but is a lot to someone with say £250. If you are up percentage wise is all that matters.

      • Profile photo of ooseven
        ooseven 9 months ago

For example johnb is up 192.5 pts this month. Now if he started with £100 he now has £292.50. What if he had £10,000 as a bank, he now has £29,250 which is a huge difference but it’s still the same in terms of points.

  39. Profile photo of sheldy365

00seven thanks for the reply mate that’s helped me out a lot I think I’m. Guna start out at 2% and if I have a bad month or two maybe drop it down to 1% do you hae any rules with regards to how much % of your bank you stake in one day I.e 5% or do you just re evaluate the bank after a losing day and bet the % of that so if I start with 1000 and bet 5 bets at 2% so £20. They all lose next days stake would be 900 so £18 per bet. Thanks again lads
