JOHNB was disappointed with his joint Nap/NB which lost and once again the finger was pointed at Black Cherry’s jockey Richard Hughes.

On a better note there was a fine win for Golden Horn who he tipped for the Eclipse and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in three weeks.

    Quick question

How many points should I start with?

I had a week off betting and started on July 1st with £20 which was 10 ‘Points’

From 1st July to today 4th July the £20 including any winnings from the tips had been bet as £2 on each tip, £4 on the double stake Nap/Nb, and £1 on the doubles. If the 7.45pm tip loses I am at £0 and 0 ‘Points’ left to bet with.

    Thanks for any help

      RobRoy, 10pts isn’t enough – I always start with 100.

      • Tony R 1 year ago

        Mr F / JohnB

If you start with 100 points do you deposit the funds at day 1 (presume not so you can use the best odds from various sites) for the total amount the 100 points equate too? Or add the funds as needed?

Just trying to understand how you would begin..

I’m on John B’s tips from tomorrow with £5 per point so i have deposited £20

        • Profile photo of Mr Fixit Author
          Mr Fixit 1 year ago

Tony R, it’s not as simple as depositing funds because you want the best prize. I tend to use six or seven different accounts and it’s about trying to keep track of what you’re doing. But the bank should start with a full amount – spare cash if you like. You shouldn’t be adding any funds after that.

          • Tony R 1 year ago

Thanks Mr Fixit. Starting with a £500 betting bank (100 points, 1 points = £5) from tomorrow.

If after one month your betting bank is in profit. For example after month 1, 26 points profit. Does month two begin with a betting bank of £630 (still 100 points) so going forward each point would be worth £6.30?

I think i’m on the right lines now, unless i’m over complicating things!

Rob Roy , only bet with what you can comfortably afford to lose , if its 25p a point then so be it and let your bank grow slowly then increase the stakes which it will if you follow Johnb. I read a great quote..”Nobody ever bet enough on a winning horse” Bayer I think.GL

Last 2 races tonight guys Wat we thinking

  5. RobRoy 1 year ago

Thanks guys, maybe I need to do £0.50 a point to begin with! Thanks

  6. Dariusz 1 year ago

RobRoy, I suggest to take 1,5% (up to 2%) of your bankroll as 1 point, updated at the start of each month (so you’ll play with bigger stakes each month and maximize the use of your capital). I looked at the statistics, made some calculations and this stake (1,5%) looks really well with JohnB.

With 1,5%, you can go as low as -66 points, which I believe JohnB will never even come close to.
With 1,5%, considering an average profit of 20 points in February-May 2015, you can get 30% of profit a month. In June it was a massive 84% of profit.

With 2% of the bankroll, the average monthly profit could be around 40% (112% in June!), but you’re safe to go only as low as -50 points, which isn’t that impossible (but I haven’t seen a loss bigger than 20 points with JohnB’s tips). So I’d stick with 1,5%.

As your wealth increases (no doubt it will), you could start using a flat stake every month like £50 and withdraw any monthly profit.
So really it’s up to you how much you are willing to risk and what staking plan you will use.

Play it safe, play it slowly, play it daily, and you’ll be a rich man in a blink of an eye. Remember that even 10% of profit IN A MONTH is 10 times more than even the best companies have IN A YEAR.

Find a bookmaker with good odds, use a “deposit bonus” (cash in 200, get 200 for free) and you’re good to go.

Golden horn proved today up to the last furlong how average this year’s 3 year olds are.
The great Gatsby gave 11 pounds and was still there up to the final furlong.
Off level weights, Gatsby holds on and wins, and Gatsby certainly wasn’t the top of the crop at his age group

The Watcher “Golden Horn proved today up to the last furlong how average this year’s 3 year olds are” ?

For a start the race is 10 furlongs, not 9 so can’t really be judged on that.
3 year olds always carry 8st 10lb in the Eclipse, 4+ year olds always carry 10st 7lb, and fillies get a 3lb allowance.
These weights are set out to try and level the playing field.

Horses like people developed with age, they get stronger, they bulk up, they get better.

One of the best horses of the modern era “Sea The Stars” in 2009 also received 11lb from his elders but only won by one length, does that make him a bad horse?.

One that sticks out to me was REFERENCE POINT in 1987
He won the Dante and Derby just like Golden Horn, but was beat in the Eclipse by Mtoto,
Reference Point went on to win The Great Voltigeur Stakes and the St Leger.

As Frankie said yesterday, Golden Horn has always been left with something in the tank at the end of all his races,
Frankie didn’t have to really go for it and Golden Horn won quite comfortably and it’s only three weeks till his next big test in the King George so Frankie was always going to do enough to win.

  43. Phil 1 year ago

    Wolf heart won?

  44. Delmar44 1 year ago

I think James is right. Why do you think these jockeys have meetings before the start. It’s to decide who is going to win what race. Form, ground, stats and all that means nothing..

  45. PeteT 1 year ago

    I don’t think that’s the case.

You couldn’t plan a dead heat if you tried!

If your horse wins it’s a great pick, if it loses the sport is corrupt.

I agree sometimes jockeys don’t help but corruption – nah. Riding to owner or trainers instructions – now that’s a fair call (and they may have their own reasons for the instructions they give).
