Wimbledon tips

Day eight at Wimbledon delivered arguably the best match of the 2026 Championships so far as Arthur Fery overcame Grigor Dimitrov in a five-set thriller on centre court.

Following that match, day nine has a lot to live up to, but with Novak Djokovic pencilled in for a blockbuster clash against Felix Auger-Aliassime, there is every chance it could deliver.

While that clash is the headline event on Tuesday, there are also some other matches worth keeping an eye on, including Jannik Sinner vs Jan-Lennard Struff and Jessica Pegula vs Coco Gauff.

Ahead of action getting underway at 13:30 local time, check out our Wimbledon day nine tips below.

Novak Djokovic 3-1 Felix Auger-Aliassime (3/1)

The days of Djokovic routinely winning Grand Slam matches in straight sets are seemingly firmly in the past, and 3-1 has become his favourite scoreline over the past couple of years.

These championships alone, he has won three of his four matches by this scoreline, while his two wins at Roland Garros in May were also by three sets to one. Going back to last year's Wimbledon, three of his five wins finished 3-1, too, so there is clearly a trend.

While Auger-Aliassime is a step up from the players Djokovic has faced so far, the Canadian will likely be feeling the effects of his five-set thriller with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

The pair have only ever met once on grass before, with Djokovic prevailing in straight sets.

Jessica Pegula to beat Coco Gauff (8/13)

Jessica Pegula played brilliantly to come back from a set down against Iva Jovic in the fourth round and is now the woman to beat as she hunts down her first-ever Grand Slam title.

Coco Gauff was equally as impressive in her victory over the dangerous Belinda Bencic, but this is her first time in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, and her performances on grass remain largely erratic and unpredictable.

Pegula, on the other hand, is natural on this surface with two grass-court titles to her name. This season, she has won seven of her eight matches on grass, so her game couldn't really be in a better place.

Pegula also has the edge over Gauff in recent H2H meetings, winning four of the last six.

Naomi Osaka to beat Karolina Muchova (8/11)

After defeating Aryna Sabalenka in the fourth round, the pressure now falls on Naomi Osaka as she starts her quarter-final against Karolina Muchova as the narrow favourite.

As a four-time Grand Slam champion, though, this shouldn't faze her too much, and she certainly has the skills and form to down Muchova. Osaka has won eight of her nine matches on grass this year, with her only defeat coming via retirement, ironically against Muchova in Bad Homburg.

Prior to that retirement, Osaka had won back-to-back matches against Muchova, and her power could be too much for the world number nine.
