US Open tips

The 2025 US Open continues on Saturday with all remaining players in the tournament eyeing a place in the second week at Flushing Meadows.

Day six wasn't a great one for American tennis, with the headline result being Ben Shelton's withdrawal against Adrian Mannarino. Another big American exit was Emma Navarro, who lost in three sets to Barbora Krejcikova.

On day seven, Coco Gauff is in action as the US hope for a better day, while Jannik Sinner will also take to the court to face Denis Shapovalov in a potential banana skin for the world number one.

US Open day 7 tips: Our picks

Magdalena Frech vs Coco Gauff over 18.5 games (8/11)

Coco Gauff continues to be backed by the bookies to win matches quickly, and while they continue to offer these odds on her making life difficult for herself, I am going to continue taking them up on it.

Gauff's issues are serve are severe, and she has been broken nine times across her two matches at the tournament, so far. If you can't hold your serve consistently at this level, then you aren't going to beat anyone in under 18.5 games, never mind someone ranked 33rd in the world.

Magdalna Frech has been excellent at Flushing Meadows so far, and has proven she isn't phased by facing a home favourite here as she came from behind to down Peyton Stearns in the second round.

Recent history suggests 8/11 here is a phenomenal price, as Gauff has only won two of her last 11 matches in 18 games or less.

Daniel Altmaier to win a set against Alex de Minaur (7/5)

Daniel Altmaier has been disrespected in the odds for his third-round match with Alex de Minaur. After all, this is a man who beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round.

What's more, Altmaeir isn't the sort of player to just down tools if he goes a set or two down. He has battled from behind to win both of his matches at the US Open so far, so this is a bet that will stay firmly in play until the last point is played.

While Alex de Minaur is playing the best tennis of his career, the Australian is hardly immune to dropping sets. Altmaeir has also only lost in straight sets once in his last nine matches on the ATP Tour.

Alexander Zverev 3-0 Felix Auger-Aliassime (8/5)

Alexander Zverev sparked concerns but his mental state after his early exit from Wimbledon a few months ago, but whatever he is dealing with in his personal life hasn't stopped him from recapturing his best form on the American hard courts in recent months.

The world number three hasn't dropped a set in any of his last six wins on the ATP Tour, including his opening two rounds at the US Open.

The overall H2H record supports a straight-sets triumph for Zverev, too. The German has beaten Felix Auger-Aliassime in six of their previous eight meetings, and five of those victories came without dropping a set.
