Tuesday’s Football Tips: Free-scoring Airdrieonians could pose some Scottish League Cup problems for Aberdeen

IT'S another busy night of action in the Scottish League Cup and Aberdeen's clash with Airdrieonians at Pittodrie has the potential to be a cracker.

New Dons boss Jimmy Thelin has made a decent start with comfortable wins on the road at Queen of the South and East Kilbride. Now he leads the side out for his first competitive game at Pittodrie as Championship side Airdrie come calling.

The Dons are heavy favourites at home to a side sitting a league below them but Thelin's defence will be certainly be tested by the free-scoring Diamonds.

Airdrieonians kicked off with an 8-0 demolition of East Kilbride then followed it up with a 4-3 win on the road against Dumbarton at the weekend.

Rhys McCabe is one of the most progressive coaches in the lower leagues and it's not his style to park the bus so this should be a good watch.

Hamilton Academical v Ross County Top Tips

Ross County only just dodged the drop last season with a win in the Premiership play-off final and they now face a Hamilton side who returned to the second tier by winning the Championship play-off final.

The Staggies brought up one of Saturday's Super Singles by beating Raith Rovers in a repeat of that play-off clash but it was far from a convincing victory, with the winner coming late in the day.

So this could be a tricky tie on Hamilton's plastic pitch, with Accies in decent form after a draw against Stirling and win on the road at Stranraer.

Hamilton are 4/5 in the double chance market but the half-time draw might be a better option at 5/4.

Ferencvaros v The New Saints Top Tips

Welsh club The New Saints are in Champions League qualifying action tonight but are rank outsiders against Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros.

Betfred make them 12/1 outsiders but the one thing that could work in their favour is the fact this is Ferencvaros' first competitive outing of the new season.

It might take the Hungarians a while to get going so backing most goals to come after the break looks good at evens.
